I had read that the BBC were going to show 4 songs only on TV so pretty happy with that coverage. So much energy from Bruce. Just over two weeks until Glasgow. Cool

....Springsteen nailed it as well I reckon .....supposedly THE biggest crowd ever seen at the main stage at Glasto .."The River" being particulary atmospheric....

But so far the Beeb seem to have only shown 5 songs from Neil Young's set .....'Words' 'The Needle And The Damage Done' 'Get Behind The Wheel' 'Rockin' In The Free World' 'A Day In The Life' (unless I've missed some of the coverage ......anyone seen any others?)

DOH! Red Face

To answer my own question ....I've just seen this via Twitter from the BBC's own tweet......

The BBC has spent the last couple of months talking to Neil's management about how much of his set we might be able to show on TV, radio and online over Glastonbury weekend. Neil Young's career has been conducted on his own terms. Last night Neil's management agreed to let TV and radio broadcast five songs as they watched and listened to his performance. They believe in the live event and retaining its mystery and that of their artist. They have decided to make one song available online over the weekend to give a flavour of his set. That's Rockin' In The Free World and that's their decision.

DAMN!

That Brucie set was excellent apart from Outlaw Pete
which I personally can't stand.

Adrian did you see at one point Clarence trying to walk across the stage. He was walking like someone who ahd arthritis very gingerly. Not sure how good his physicla condition is.

Stand outs so far

Neil Young - I saw him a few days ago in Nottingham - awesome. Even my four year old son was grooving to Rocking in the Free World on the telly
Fleet Foxes - I get more impressed the more I hear them
White Lies - about the only band I stayed with on the bbc 3 multiscreen options
Lily Allen - outfit not music!
Spinal Tap doing Stonehenge - it still makes me laugh 25 years later
Bruce last night - was not expecting so much of the set to be televised

Low lights - and there have been a few - but in particular Bloc Party & the much hyped Florence and the Machine. Oh and the BBC 3 presenters - guess I'm getting old!

The whole of the BROADCAST coverage of Neil Young is included in the BBC2 Programme now available on the BBC website (don't know for how long though). It is intersperced with some other stuff too, such as bits from The Specials.

Neil begins at about 1min 37 in.

Neil Young, the five tracks mentioned before are all that were broadcast according to the listing on Dime.

1. Needle and the Damage Done
2. Words
3. Get Behind The Wheel
4. Rockin' in the Free World
5. A Day in the Life

As for Bruce Springsteen, his set was:

Coma Girl (by Joe Strummer)
Badlands*
Prove It All Night*
My Lucky Day
Outlaw Pete*
Out In The Street*
Working On A Dream*
Seeds
Johnny 99
The Ghost Of Tom Joad
Raise Your Hand
Because The Night
No Surrender (with The Gaslight Anthem)
Waitin' On A Sunny Day*
The Promised Land*
The River*
Radio Nowhere
Lonesome Day
The Rising
Born To Run*

Hard Times
Thunder Road*
Land Of Hope And Dreams
American Land*
Glory Days*
Dancing In The Dark*

(Thanks to Ewen).

* These are the tracks that were broadcast, again the source is Dime.

It sounds like nothing else will be broadcast by Neil Young, but it is always possible that other tracks will be broadcast by Bruce Springsteen and other artists on the Radio1 best of Glastonbury that is usually on Steve Lamac's show on Monday, and other DJ's will probably be playing some clips from the festival too.

I watched the Neil Young and Bruce broadcasts and much preferred the NY, albeit we only got five songs. There was also something much better about the sound - I find much of Bruce's recent recorded work and the one concert of his I have experienced somewhat muddy and low fidelity by comparison!

Out of interest, can someone enlighten me which original recording 'Words' comes from? I thought I had all NY's album output but I can only find on the live 'Road Rock'.

And I was delighted also to hear the one Quo LP I have described by Mark Radcliffe as "a serious rock album". (So much for so-called 3-chord wonders!! Red Face)
