Lovely pics. How did it all sound? How about the new XS series? Was it on demo?

Regards...

full marks to the naim crew for putting up with the absolute worst the weather could deliver -- hot sunny, downpours, high humidity -- the conditions in the listening room became truly unbearably unpleasant due to heat and humidity

James

Thank you once again for inviting me to the event.

The music was not so fascinating this year for me - last years great capture was Cantate Domino.

Interesting to hear the improvements as the DAC and PS were added to the CD player.

I have been looking forward to his event for some time and it didn't disappoint. Well done James and the Naim guys who were there.

Good to meet you, Mr Honeyball Smile

Those Ovaries look very close to the back wall. Was that intentional?

Dear all,

I have some photos I will post of the event, when I can find my the cable for my digi camera Frown There are some strange pictures of the Naim team and James dancing. Smile

My thoughts:

1. 10/10 for James for the event and venue, and also being a proper Naim enthusiast and haveing a real energy and passion for good quality hifi. A proper exhibition.

2. 10/10 for the DAC. It is truly something else. Lifted CDX2 and HDX to near 555 standard in my view when powered by a XPS2. Wasn't too shabby naked.

3. Ovators are very nice, musical and clear. A Naim speaker not a doubt, slightly more even flavour, but very nice. Don't understand the comments wriiten here around the bass, etc, all seemed pretty well to me.

4. CDX2 very good on its own through 552/300/Ovators.

5. 10/10 to the Naim crew, Mark, the very nice man from sweden (forgot his name Frown)who designed the DAC, and Doug who gave a very professional presentation around the new products with a clear explanantion of the musical priorities.

6. Very nice to meet some old forum warriors, PolarBear and JonR. Respect dudes, very nice to see you after a long time. And some new forum jedis - Jon Honeyball and David Price (editor of HiFi something or other...I forgot), they were not too geeky.

In summary. The DAC is blinding, the speakers are cool, the venue & Gods@Naim & TomTom are a good reminder why I got into Naim 25 years ago. I didn't find the room too hot, but maybe its cos I am a slimline and cool chap.

Cheers,

Dev -- back from the wilderness and wants a DAC when its out Smile

ps. James's brother from HR Owen has got the coolest taste in music.

Hi Chaps,

Thanks very much for your feedback I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much, from our point of view it was complete success and great fun.

That was David Price of Hi Fi World Dev who's a top chap, and it was rewarding to see such interest from the press with Martin Colloms also attending earlier in the day.

Cheers
James

A fantastic day James, thanks for inviting me along.

The Ovators seemed much better integrated than when I first heard them, so the subtle changes to damping, springs and spikes seem to be working. The DAC was once again fully on tune and dramatically improved the presentation from both CD and HD sources. It was also interesting to meet one of the designers and hear about some of the radical new thinking that has gone into it... just wish I could remember his name.

The venue was great, and the free sauna in the listening room an added bonus Winker but at least you could retire to the cool room and chill out with the Gurus and the Unity!

It was good to meet a few fellow forum members and chat face to face rather than over the wire.

Looking forward to next year already.

Jon got very very hot in the demonstration and had to stand next to something very cool to cool down. Cool

James, thanks for the invite and the excellent hospitality.

Good to meet so many forum members. I got the chance to finally meet in person the legend that is Dev B. Its only taken a few years.

A big thank you to Jon R for inviting me to listen to his system after the event. It gave me a chance to meet up with an old friend of mine, my old CDS 3,

Interesting to chat to Dave in person, I am sure we will be swapping notes on the Ovator thread,

Regards

PB

James,

Again thanks for a great show, it had even cooled down a bit by the time I'd arrived. Sorry I was a bit late.

I really enjoyed the demonstrations; excellent presentations by the Naim guys - particularly on how to build your own loudspeaker. Its sounds quite easy - I might try it sometime - or maybe not!!

I also second Dev B's comments about the DAC. The new CDX2+DAC+XPS and HDX+DAC+XPS combinations were excelent. Hmmm - new kitchen or ???

Cheers,

Kenneth.
