Isn't it the case that the Queen's English or at least the way in which Liz Windsor and the toffs pronounce it, is largely influenced by the adoption a number of decades ago of a psuedo Cockney accent by the toffs because it was the done/in thing to do? Just think how Her Maj, would say "golf" and "lost" and hey presto - Bow Bells.

Hi Officer,I think it was several decades earlier, to make less obvious their German origin.
