Current latest is JULY 2009, a slim chance sooner, going nicely through beta right now.

Appreciate the feedback Paul. Thank you.

Hope it stays on track this time...

I need a source and can't wait much longer ! - and HDX isn't on the cards for me until this update delivers a few things, I'm hoping... Winker

Steve.

If it support playing lossless apple format, I might be tempted.

But not if it doesnt -- I have nearly 1Tb of music in apple lossless, and I'm not going to rerip or transcode it.

That's one of my 'ticks in boxes' also Jon....The main one, however, being ripping to external drives - always the HDX's achilles heel.

I'm not even going to wish for a non-flash interface module for something like the iPhone/Touch however...!

I have a stack of Apple Lossless too, and whilst I wouldn't mind re-ripping most of my favourite discs through the HDX, it won't be everything - besides, I just want to be able to play anything through it.....I think it was hinted at in a post a few months back it would be coming with this update, though the iPod nature of how it has been implemented in the Uniti is a concern........

Jon,

It might not be super easy for you but.... get a hold of a PC at a friends or a library.

Download a free trial version of dbPoweramp's Batch Converter.

You can easily select everything with one click.

Then specify the naming format of the output folders, based on the tags, e.g. %artist% - %album% (%year%) or whatever you want.

Click a button and it will convert everything for you, create the folders, name the files etc... Assuming everything is tagged correctly.

Another option, if you have irreplaceable file structures you cant do away with, is to convert back to the files original folders (default setting I believe). Then you can manually delete the unwanted files.

I dont know a good way to mass delete though...

I tried to do exactly this in an effort to move to iTunes/iPhone Remote... but I couldnt get along with any of it.

I *think* I might be able to get my hands on a PC. At a push... ;-)

The phrase "I'm not going to rerip or transcode it" has some relevance here :-)

If you are going to be inflexible about it then I guess you can get an HDX.

Was just trying to show you how easy it is. It would literally take you 3 minutes to get it going.

Whatever... Roll Eyes

I'm not sure the batch convert works in trial. I think it will only convert 1 at a time. Batch converter does work as described when bought though I could be mistaken about the trial limitations.
There's an easy way to move WAV files from an HDX. Just import one CD at a time(important part) into somethng like media monkey's library and tell it to do it's data thing. Takes less than a minute per disc and will be available with info.

JS,

Maybe you are right. It worked for me though when I gave it a test run, and I didn't purchase dbPoweramp. Maybe things have changed.

It is irrelevant anyway. Jon is unwilling to convert and cannot therefore get an HDX. And that sucks for him if he is truly in the market for one.

I felt that way in the beginning as well. So i can sympathize. But we move on.... I tried to use iTunes more than once, and was fully willing to go to a different codec if needed.

At this point my Foobar remote for iPhone works MUCH better than the Remote app, I even have coverflow now! I dont use it, but friends like to use it because it is flashy.

If you are an Apple user then the free program "Max" is a very good file converter .

Annoyingly, I saw some great updates to the HDX user interface on the Summer Sounds roadshow two weeks ago, and I was led to believe they appeared in SP10. Having just loaded SP10 and found those updates are not there, I can only assume they were using a beta of the new firmware - cheeky. Looks good, and immediately sorts my main gripes with the UI.
But where is it? Let's hope we don't have too long to wait.....

SP10 solves some more behind the scenes issues.
IE the OS does not have to shut down for the unit to be powered down.

Thanks, BTW do you have any idea about the introduction of internet radio for the HDX. And what about the updated HDX user interface as seen on the Summer Sounds Roadshow??

Regards,
Michel
