I keep mine on all the time. The best solution is to.
Put the "computer side" on a UPS and use an external supply for the analog and keep it powered unless there is a storm or on vacation of course.

I keep my 555PS on 24/7 but power down the HDX, as it seems to make my NAS very hot. Not sure I've worked out why but it does seem to keep scanning the network for a long time. I don't know if the 555PS keeps the DAC & analog bits alive even if the computer bit is powered down, but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the sound. Which is excellent by the way

I'd like to keep mine on all the time, but it gets so warm (warmer than my SuperNait)...
Therefore, I switch it into standby when not in use.
