If you can find other R6 shows, then this might suggest that the BBC haven't put the GP show up. Can you find it on iPlayer?

BBC Radio 3 is fine this morning - I've been streaming it constantly since 6.45 this morning - what station(s) are you trying to listen to, and where?

Thanks all. I'd tried radio 1 and 2 on both 'HD' and 'normal' and couldn't listen to either. Radio paradise was fine. I'm in north Hampshire. All seems fine this morning.

iRadio drop out ... only with BBC HD stations

Parlee-king ·
Anyone else having issues with the BBC HD feed? Been having issues with the BBC HD channels 2, 4, 5 & 6 stopping streaming at random pretty much since I replaced the SU with the 272 in April ..... curiously I have no issues with other stations Naim 320K, Radio Paradise , Linn Jazz AND BBC std channels. Sometimes it will drop out & restart within a few seconds, but more often than not the stream stops and doesn't restart. BBC 2 HD failed twice between 6am & 7am this morning, both...

The power line adapters could be the problem. As an experiment, can you try connecting over WiFi just to see if anything changes? Alternatively, a better test might be to use a proper wired Ethernet cable. Just get a very cheap Cat5e cable from eBay for a couple of quid and see if it solves the problem. If it does, think about drilling some holes in your walls and networking your house properly.

It dropped out on me this morning, but apart from saying me too & its the first time ever & it only happened once & its been OK since, I have no idea's other than it might be a BBC issue. By BBC HD, do you mean HLS 48kHz 339kb/s ? Did you notice what the buffer was showing, mine has been showing 100% for the last 30 mins. (Also I'm BT HH5 & 52/10mb service)

My reasoning is away from the powerline because it works 95% of the time The other 320kps+ iradio services & tidal/spotify are rock solid? upnp from the Vortex server is fed over the same pair without issues, with 24/192k My TV is also connected to t'nterweb over the...

You could well be right that this is a BBC/vTuner/ISP issue, rather than a problem with your LAN. I only suggested trying the Ethernet or WiFi options because they are a very easy way to rule out any LAN issues caused by the powerlines. If you already have a long Ethernet cable, so much the better. You may also find that you get an improvement in sound quality by turning off the powerlines.

How is the BBC service today?, mine has been 100% for the last 2 hours, R4 & R2 - I don't know who saw it as it was not up for long, but we had a sticky post from Steve Hopkins yesterday about a break in service with Naim Radio & RP, it was a server down, might've been the same with BBC

Quick: update still getting intermittent problems with BBC HD, BBC2 dropped out around 6pm last night, before we went out. After then R2HD was connected for more than 3 hours via the powerlines AND did a stress test for 20 mins by streaming an HD channel to BT vision box and at the same time streaming iPlayer HD to TV, iRadio ..buffer shows 100% dropped out about 9:15pm. left it on the Linn Jazz (320k but MP3 not HLS) stream all night, still locked on this morning at 6:45am Ok lets try the...

I've experienced similar issues with the BBC HLS streams, mainly 6music (as I listen to this most of the time). Like the OP, it would randomly just stop. However, without wishing to tempt fate, I reckon I've only had one or two dropouts in recent months. I've always put it down to problems 'at their end', as my internet connection is rock solid and everything is connected over ethernet.

I have the same problem with Radio 2 HD, it regularly drops out and pressing play usually restarts it. I use Devolo 1200's which work perfectly for 1080p streaming etc so the problem appears to be with the BBC HLS streams on my Unitiqute 2?

I am not sure you can the Devolos are not part to blame say with certainty. Web radio along with web streaming require low latency two connections.. It's not about bandwidth but latency. Doing this allows Naim to provide responsiveness and avoid adding potentially SQ robbing additional computer hardware in their devices. The Develos were, when I looked at them, essentially half duplex derives. These add to the two way latency of the TCP windowing mechanism. Now this might be compounded with...

Good point any additional device always adds latency... typically 4mS I'll be adding a wired connection when we redecorate, later this year.

I'll not be changing the Homeplugs, my router is 3 floors away in a grade 2 listed building so I won't be putting any cabling in to solve a minor problem with Radio 2 HD! Like I said, everything else streams perfectly, including HD video, so I'm not that bothered about Radio 2, I just thought I'd let the OP know that he's not alone.

But they are essentially half duplex ethernet work arounds .. So real TCP latency which is what is relevant here could well be higher.. ..

Mu-so network stack and BBC HD radio

mazsex ·
Anyone getting crashes on the Mu-So network stack when playing BBC HD radio after a few minutes? I loose Bluetooth and the ethernet when this happens. The 'fix' is to walk up to the Mu-so (as the Naim App cant see the Mu-So anymore) and change the input to a non-networked input (anaulogue/fiber et) then it all kicks back into life again (or powercycle the beast). Any other feed including the SD BBC works fine

Just go to iradio, choose BBC and then your channel. If you pick R4, the 339 HLS is the first one. Try running an Ethernet cable to the Qb - odds on this will fix it.

David Bowie: The Last Five Years (Documentary)

David Bowie: The Last Five Years. Saturday 7th Jan on BBC2 at 21.00. Just a quick heads up for the forum David Bowie fans. I heard this programme previewed on BBC Radio4 Front Row last night. As a Bowie fan, it really piqued my interest as it concentrates on Black Star & The Next Day albums, which I personally think are amongst his strongest. If anything like the original David Bowie: Five Years documentary, it could provide a fascinating insight into the creative process behind those...

Agree - I thought it well done overall, but it did examine the easier years a little more than expected. When the programme expanded his later work I found it fascinating, especially how the jazz fusion for Black Star came about. Essential watching for Bowie fans I thought, but perhaps a little long for the merely curious.
