Naim new products 2018

i thought I would make my predictions on new naim products which will be announced in 2018 as opposed to be available to buy!

1) New crossovers to work with kudos loudspeakers

Reason already seen at some demonstrations in 2017

2) 3 new streamers to replace nds , ndx and nd5

Reason fairly simply  task of adding features already on unity range of streamers onto classic range to update and refresh the range.

thats it.

what do others think in one year we will see who was right?

Original Post

Super Lumina Super Tone Control box - dial for setting the musical lumens level (2700 for warm, 5000 for bright).

Fraim Timer Lock - defeats upgraditius by preventing component removal for the first year of ownership.

Naim for Tesla - no, not another car audio system. In 2018, Naim will be selected as the official audio supplier for the upcoming mission to Mars!

I imagine Naim is somewhat at a crossroads.     From what I understand the current range of streamers are now a generation or even 2 behind.   In order that it is possible to ensure flexibility I suggest for the future anything above Uniti level might be designed with the streaming and DAC elements in separate boxes.

Lindsay

That way they’ll be able sell more power supplies of course.

I guess they are developing entirely new amplifier range

First one might be a (partly) Chinese manufactured class D intg. Amplifier

To save further cost it will be half width too

Their entry level Preamp Nac 202 will be replaced as it not selling much anymore, perhaps a selfpowered half width preamp to match the Nap 100.?

They may be working on luxury version amplifiers which will be offered as an upgrade to existing owners a.la DR concept ?

They are offcourse working on new streamer range

But most likely they have a Statement integrated coming soon.

With mains-supply quality deteriorating all the time, a mains conditioning device which passed Naim listening tests, and isn't the size of a garden shed would be nice. As the ultimate clean-source device it ought to be a monster seller, if affordable.

John.

Anything that will give them as much profit as the SL cables do. Maybe Naim cable lifters or cable dividers. Something along these lines, and sell it for a couple grand for package of two. Put the Naim name on it and watch the people swoon. They will of course  have  that certain synergy with the SL cables that no other cable lifters can provide. If they use my idea, I'll only take a 5% cut!

Of course only Naim knows the sales for the classic streamers, but with the new platform available it is obvious that the classic streamers in the current verssion is the end of the line streaming technology, but at a high pricepoint. this is not a big problem for current owners, but buying from new is in my view a different situation. If sales suggest I am correct an update to the classic streamers makes more sense than a 500 streamer or the mythical statement streamer.

I would definitely be interested!

How about a wall mounted Fraim shelf?  It might be called a WallFraim.  Just the thing that your LP12, NAC552, NDS, CD555 or whatever has been waiting for.

There might also be a good market in wall mounted shelfs purpose designed by Naim for the Muso and Uniti ranges as well.

Badlands - fair enough that you like to challenge what you to believe to be the excesses of the Industry but frankly such is your cynicism and obvious disdain for the company I’m surprised you continue to post here.

you find these cables lifters silly but personally i use them to decouple my burndys from the floor and from themselves.  I know, with some pieces of wood and appropriate tools you can make them for no money. But i am lazy and have no tools....

I've absolutely no idea if Naim has anything in the pipeline for 2018 but I'd love to see them bring out an in-house range of active loudspeakers that would integrate with a 272 for example for a "proper" one box system.

By in-house I mean sans Focal and the icing on the cake would be modular amps to allow upgrades/DR'ing etc.

Happy New Year to all.

Strat, it's called humor, try not to take everything you see here so literally!

My God,  is this  modern world where people support and defend commercial companies as if they were football teams?  Naim Audio is a business company whose aim is to make money and it will take that money from you even without the show of blind obedience I promise.

I won't suggest specific products, but generally a future trend beyond 2018 towards more Class D amplification products and introduction of room correction software in streamers. I think that Focal's influence and Naim's future viability beyond the baby boomers demands these additions to the product line.

It just depends how often the joke is repeated of course.

Some investment into analogue sources would be nice an Aro 2 or a Prefix 2 and a revamp of the stageline phono stages. As mentioned above separate two box streaming solutions that could be used and integrated with other brands would also be nice.

And on that Bob we agree - alas Naim’s support for Analogue is minimal these days.

If there is something a commercial company, it is a football team, given the outrageous transfer sums / salaries. This understanding is the only thing what possibly could convert me in an anti-kapitalist.

It would be nice to see a Naim tonearm in the shape of the Naim logo.
