power cord

i am sure this topic has been done to death on this forum but i had to ask a couple of questions.

i have some 'audiophile' power cords which i tried with the unitiqute i have - oyaide tunami, shunyata venom, audioart power 1 etc.

but after some listening i found that the stock naim power cord had a more natural synergy with the unitiqute.

then i saw that naim had introduced the naim powerline lite - whose magic seems to mainly lie in its plug.

so i was wondering whether to buy the lite (but that is a uk plug and i live in the usa) or to chop off the plug/connector of the stock chord and fit it with better plugs like oyaide or furutech, and then i saw that avoptions had the tibia and tibia12.

so anybody tried these? any other views on this issue?

You're right - the plug is the key to the quality of this cable. Otherwise it's Naim bog standard mains cable in cable type and IEC connector.

As you're USA based, I'd go the AV Options route or just stick with the standard Naim supplied cable.

I recently purchased two TibiaPlus Deep-Cryo's. They were bright and forward the first 3 days but have settled in and are a nice uplift on the 172 and 200. Great service and 30 day return policy so I would give them a try.

Hi

I may be incorrect, but I believe some Naim cables are made by Furutech.

Furutech only supply the mains plug on the US and EU versions (rather than the Naim specific plug on the UK version)

It is a bloody good plug though. I expect Naim would not hesitate to design their own non UK plugs if they thought they could cost effectively better the Furutech ones.

And the best thing about the Furutech... you can buy it and fit it yourself to the mains lead. If you don't want to cannibalise the Naim stock one (and Naim will not recommend such a thing anyway despite putting plugs on cables being a generic DIY task), I am fairly sure from comparison that they source their leads from the same place IBM do for their servers. I compared a Naim lead to one that came in our AIX P-series box and they were identical. I'd not hesitate to order spare cables from IBM or Naim (whichever charge less) and fit a Furutech plug on. They should be soldered on though, not screwed. Could be a dirt cheap upgrade.

I used to have two power lines one on my Nap and one first on my HiCap and then on an Israeli psu.

I then swapped them for a Graham’s hydra 2 tail and an original Naim cord on my Nap and heard no difference at all nothing. Now maybe my ears are damaged from work but there was no noticeable change in SQ.

My god! Why on earth did you keep buying the things then? Peer preassure?
