You would be reliant on a dock with digital out such as The cabridge audio Id100. I am assuming by fibre you mean toslink

Out of interest, why do you want to go via S/PDIF into the DAC from the iPad ?

Salvo,

Simply connect the to the nDac via the USB cable that came with your iPad.

Just connect up the iPad to the front USB just as you would an iPod. Start up the Music app (ios 5) or iPod if before ios 5. The nDac can even control it from the front buttons. Check you nDAC manual for more details. You can even connect an iPhone.

This is great news since this i the way I would like to use the dac. I don´t have one but if this works the cd player has finally become a part of the history for me, today I use the ipad into nait xs without any dac and since it´s so easy to use the CDX2 is used less for every day.

NDX and ND5XS is an option but I like the "stand alone" feeling of the dac, no network or running computers with all it´s programs needed. Just a iphone, ipad, usb-stick.

Great news.

(why isn´t this info updated by Naim for the ndac)

Hi Jech, nDAC manual is only 3 pages of info. Page 1 has the "Made for iPod" and "works with iPhone" logos and certified by Apple. Also it tells you you can control the USB device, i device using the front panel buttons to control the device. Page 2 says that the DAC is able to handle any audio file format that can be played on the Apple device... Page 3 tells you about charging the device and switching it off for best audio performance.

Have fun.
