iOS5

Has anybody installed this yet? I tried a few times tonight on my 3GS but there was a problem with the back up process so I didn't go any further. Backup, sync, etc are all ok but as part of the update didn't work.
After all the problems I've had with previous updates it's an Android for me next time.
N-stream also worked as per before.
This was on an i-Phone 4.

The error is 402653138 and it appears I'm not the only one. Yet another fiasco.

So long Steve and thanks for all the fish. Have a good sleep my man.

I've found my iPhone 3GS with iOS5 occasionally drops its connection to the WIFI router. I have to disable then enable wifi on the phone to get a connection again. There are a few questions about this on the apple support board. I thought I had an issue with my new NDX and n-Stream but it was the phone at fault. When the connection is lost I managed to get n-Stream to crash a few times. I've synched my phone with iTunes so Naim should have the crash logs by now. n-Stream crashed every second time I attempted to access the setup screen by pressing the setup button from the device discovery failure dialog.
"It just works."
"Aye, right."

Given that Apple only have a small range of hardware devices, all of their own design, and managed through their own software application this is totally inexcusable.
Maybe they should licence Microsoft's update manager:-)
Willy.
I must have tried more than 30 times with my iPhone before the update would even start. Then one night it started. Nothing different this time from previous attempts. However the restore failed and I had to repeat the process a further three times before it finally worked.
It's all over the web so it's not an isolated problem but Apple offer no support whatsoever. It's a disgrace and will definitely influence my choice when it's time for an upgrade next year.
My iPhone 3GS updated itself in about five minutes a couple of weeks ago. I recall that you had problems reprogramming last time, TomK, so I begin to suspect that you have something non-Apple in your set up.
Personally, I wouldn't dream of using anything else, particularly from Microsoft or Blackberry.
No issues with my iPad series 1 and iPhone 4S updating to 5.0.1. It happened yesterday. Total non-event, which is good!

That's one way of putting it. My set up is all non-Apple apart from the iPhone. I have a well protected (firewall, antivirus and antispyware always up to date) Windows XP PC and W7 laptop. I've had two major problems with updates, both platform releases, and both times I was not alone. The web was full of complaints on each occasion. Apple however were nowhere to be seen even though there was obviously something wrong and I see there's yet another new version of iTunes just released.
At the weekend I installed 5.0.1 in a flash. Downloaded and installed in a few minutes - no problem. I guess this time it was just a patch release, not a platform release.

Personally, I can only dream of using ios5 on my iPad........meanwhile my Android device is bang up to date, over the air, no iTunes, no cables, no fuss, it just works!
Willy.
No problems here with IOS 5 on iPad 1. No problems with new iTunes version on MacBook Pro or MacMini but they are all apple and would not introduce any windoze. After 30+ years experience in IT from Mainframes to single board computers, Apple is my best computing experience to date.
Touch wood it continues.
It seems to be that, if you want an iPhone, iPad, or whatever, to work, you need to have an Apple computer as base. Which isn't a problem for me, but may be for others, or so it appears.
I uploaded OS5 through my mac computer to my iphone4 - took a while but worked without any hitch. The later patch update to 5.01 worked remotely without incident. Got a shock a few days later when the battery in the iphone was completely drained over night - after the patch update! Has worked fine since with no repeat of the problem.
Overall I have been impressed with the update.
