buying vinyl

Just getting into vinyl: any online stores in the US that have a wider selection than amazon for vinly?
I also am just getting in vinyl. I have been buying direct from labels and getting 5-6 albums to spread the postage hit. Not sure what music you like but Merge records have some good vinyl . Listen to the wild flag album if u like a bit of dirty 'ole rock n roll. Also the XX album sounds good on vinyl. great bass and the notes just finish a bit more naturally.

Elusive Audio has fantastic premium vinyl.

+1 for Acoustic Sounds. Fantastic selection and quality. Great bunch of people too.
I'm planning to drive through Salinas next spring and they have offered me a tour of the pressing facility.
interesting: so you have pressing companies that sell directly? I wonder who presses cds and why they don't have websites. :-)

Acoustic Sounds owns Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings, the source for some of the best vinyl analog remasters/reissues on the planet.
The recent reissues on 45 RPM 200g vinyl of Muddy Waters "Soul Singer", Oscar Peterson's "We Get Requests" and Stan Getz/Joao Gilberto are just absolutely superb!!! The latter two are part of a series of 25 forthcoming Verve reissues to which I am a subscriber. Some great stuff is coming up. Tons of info on the web site.
BTW: a lot of the audiophile vinyl at Elusive Audio comes from Acoustic Sounds.
I'm in St. Louis, MO so my orders arrive in two days.
I have shipped a lot of vinyl to both UK and Australia from Acoustic Sounds. Their service and packaging is excellent, with everything arriving in 100% perfect condition.
Totally agree about Acoustic Sounds (http://store.acousticsounds.com/) Beyond their own label, buying Music Matters, Classic Records and other labels from them is worth it for their customer service.
For indie bands: polyvinylrecords.com, Other Music and www.insound.com are good sources. I now always check the label and artist web site directly for new releases as others have said.
You should also check on audiogon.com. People are often selling large lots of interesting used records. I've had mixed experiences with quality, even when described as "near mint", depends on the specific seller like eBay. Insist on being able to send back damaged records.
