Update available!

Posted on: 24 October 2011 by Graham Hull

What a let down, let's hope there is another one soon.

Downloaded it and it is running fine. Not much new functionality for NDX users that I can see.  No on the fly play lists unless I am missing something.

ND5XS and SuperUniti compatibility

Updated ipad UI

IOS5 Compatibility

Bug Fixes.

Am I missing anything!!!

O yes!! Lots!!!

My version of 2.2 does not match up with the app store iPad screen shot.

I see no timer bar on my iPad controlling an NDX (which would have been useful, but not as useful as the actual song length or time remaining in current song).

  1. Timer bar on Now Playing, but is this navigable (as in iTunes)?
  2. What is the 'telstar' icon next to the shuffle & repeat buttons, top right of screen? Is this the 'Info' button?

Can't see any jump-to buttons

Hi Allen -

The "telstar" is a toggle between library and player modes.

Wow, this is absolutely sad after six months of waiting..
Posted on: 24 October 2011 by rich46

they didnt disappoint you then

It does explain the PR vacum. I mean, what could they possibly have said about this?

I don't like to be critical. God knows the web is already full of self appointed experts and wingers, but' six months!

Yes, a bit of expectations management would have gone a long way, but we would still have been shocked at at the lack of progress.

too many products released together.    no icing on the cake for customers

Unfortunately not.

There seems to be a pattern here - great hardware, poor software. Granted the n-Stream update looks a tad better and adds a bit of functionality but that's it. Lack of playlist support is very disappointing to say the least.

So another long wait ahead until the next update of n stream which might have playlists. The problem for me was that after listening to the ndx and the accurate ds I preferred the sound of the ndx. The control of the linn with playlists etc was much better though. 42 years ago we had the computer technology to put a man on the moon. Just how hard can it be to design an app that can handle playlists. Naim need to sort this or potential new customers will go elsewhere.

More worryingly for Naim, existing customers are likely to go elsewhere.  Given the lack of communication with these same customers frankly I couldn't blame them.

Sad sad very sad. Are those guys sleeping? Never neglect your existing customers.

It is the sense of "it will do - it's only a control point!" that annoys me.

You should give the other options a run before jumping ship.  No one has this dialed yet.  One look at ANY relevant forum will show you that.  Trade one set of problems for another

Just use PP and be done with it.  Works perfectly and gives you the following:

- Track progress bar

- Seek around with said Progress Bar

- Volume

- Easy Playlist creation

It wont give you input selection on your Naim device.  Who cares about that anyway.

Hello patrick What is PP? Please explain. Thanks

PlugPlayer. It's in the app store. It doesn't control the volume on my NDX though.

will songbok 11 work with the  new naim

Just a refresh for new products..... Maybe they are making it along win AirPlay next year?! Don't wanna give them feedback on app store. It would have been only a 3 stars from me if I ha to base on what it is like at the moment.

Also ironically, in reading the Steve jobs biography. If only they have 50% of the late jobs' believe in great user experience and the combination of hardware and software......

Songbook - good luck on that one - makes nStream a work of genius by comparison. I wonder what his Steve would have made of nStream had Scott Forstall presented it to him as an Apple product. If his reactions to Mobile Me were anything to go by it would have gone something like this... Steve: So guys what is nStream supposed to do? Scott: Deliver a seamlessly easy way to interact with your music whilst using our wonderful streamers..... Steve: Then why the ???? doesn't it do that!!! I think the Naim version went very differently dudes..... Tog

I am a HEAVY user as both a control point and a renderer in the car and at the office.  I experience very few crashes, maybe 1 every week.  Usually happens when the iPhone is running a ton of other memory hogs.

Using on iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 and iPad.
