Thomas Dolby - new album

Posted by: blythe on 26 October 2011

I just received the new album from Thomas Dolby - his first since Astronaughts and Heretics way back in 1992.

If you're a fan of his earlier work, I think you'll enjoy this new one called A Map of The Floating City.

Thanks for the tip. The track "Airhead" from Aliens Ate My Buick was influential in a subsequent purchase of a Linn-Naim system ; that and "Sharky's Day" by Laurie Anderson.

Will check out the new album,

Been listening to this for the last month or so as it is one of the albums available in HiDef from B&W SoS.

I wasn't sure what to expect, as I'd never heard any of his other work - pleasantly surprised.

I'll have to have a look...didn't know his work until I heard 'The Ability to Swing' on youtube.

The guy was using it to demonstrate his Naim/B+W system...and it lead me to go Naim!!

His track "Dissidents"  from "The Flat Earth" was responsible for turning me onto NAIM too!

(Well that track and Derek Whittington formerly of Sound Advice, Loughborugh!)

How odd, 'Flat Earth' has been a test track for me at demos, one of just a handful I've used consistently.

Obviously a Dolby/Naim synergy!

Definitely a Dolby/Naim synergy
