DAC and USB file formats + connecting to preamp

What file formats could DAC recognise via its usb ports ?
Both NTFS and FAT ? Or only FAT or NTFS ?
Another question: Which is the best way to connect DAC
to a naim preamp ? Which socket of the preamp (552) could
give the best musical result ?
