Explain Your Avatar

Posted by: pcstockton on 02 November 2011

I am constantly curious about some people's avatars.  What/who is it and what is the meaning?

I'll start.

This is the Par 3 17th at Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes on the coast in Oregon.  THE #1 public course in the US (been battling with Pebble Beach), and #10 in the world.  This world ranking includes all courses public and private (even the ultra exclusive places none of us will ever even see.

The 17th at Pacific is a "Redan" modeled after CB MacDonald's famous hole at National Golf Links.  You better be able to hit a high, soft fade.  The bunkers on the left and front are DEEEEEP.  Long and right is GONE.

Although this is not one of the ocean side holes, it is one of my favorites.  It is a great penultimate hole.

Dear Jan-Erik

Thank you for the link and this most welcome news.

I was misled as I believe many were by an article in Dyspepsia Weekly.

Although as we know Bisodol is not recommend for those with hypophosphataemia, it is certainly not banned in England. Though it is in short supply in these parts where it has been supplanted in the main by Galveston, oh Gaviscon.

Dear BigH

What can I say, but as I get older, and frailer, the embarrassments multiply.

I had wrongly assumed that if I read it on the Internet then it must be true.

It was nothing but misleading propaganda from the magnesia brigade and I was true and welly duped.

The good news though is that for sufferers of an aching heart there is still relief available through on-line pharmacies and possibly on the shelf at the local drug store emporium.

As the bard once said: if music be the food of love them I'm the indigestion.

All the best, Guy

The dancing bear originated on the cover of the 1973 Grateful Dead album Bear's Choice - basically a tribute to Pigpen who died in 1972. Bear was the late and very much lamented Owsley who was a chemist of great influence! The dancing bear has somehow become established in Dead iconography.

I have some barrieres putting in a picture of myself, even if I look great......?

Mine is of a dessert enjoyed in the centre of Grenoble/ France, after a great meal and good wine.
A business trip, late autumn 2009. It was a magic moment because of the atmosphere....and a great picture me think
