Cover Art Resolution Issue
Posted by: Augusto Giusti on 09 November 2011
Dear all,
Seagate GoFlex Home UPnP Server connected to UnitiQute controlled by n-Stream in an iPad2.
The issue is that I cannot get the full resolution of the folder.jpg file in the iPad2. It seems that Seagate GoFlex is downsizing the album cover to something like 100x100.
This is really disturbing as I have all my flac collection properly covered.
Any help please? Can I download a firmware mod to solve this? Can I bypass downscaling of the server? Can I use an UnitiServe to load the entire collection? Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Augusto

You won't have this problem with a UnitiServe.
What is the UPnP server in the GoFlex? any configuration web page?

I'm experiencing the same problem with my WD LiveBook using TwonkyMedia as UPNP server. Any solution will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Burak

Have you tried to ''Clear image cache'' to force a scan of your covers

Yes, many times, but is the server that delivers the downsized art. The server is dowsizing the file to make loading faster.
How can I "tell" the server not to do that. Please, send the original file to de Qute?

To Unitiserve users: Can I transfer my entire library of flac files to the hard drive of the Unitiserve?

No, you can't write to the UnitiServe's disk, only rip to it.

When using n-stream in folder view mode I can't see cover art. Just in album view I can do it, but no in folder view.
I have sorted my collection gathering hd recording in one folder, sd recordings in other folder and lossy mp3 in another. So, when using album view I'm getting all mixed.
Does anybody know if it's possible to get folders covers in folder view?
Thank you
Augusto

Allright, i gave up. It's not possible.
So, I'm looking for a mac mini to be used as upnp server to stream to the qute. Any idea of software to have full cover art in the ipad 2?
Vortexbox seems to be a great solution but it doesn't run or can be installed in a mac. Any ideas to have something similar?
Thanks a lot

Your Seagate GoFlex Home UPnP Server uses minidlna software which by default creates 160x160 album art thumbnails. If you search for "minidlna album art" you'll see some ideas about how to tweak this. Have you also checked that you have the latest software for your GoFlex?

Yes, with latest version of minidlna is the same problem.

Trading one set of problems for another. Get a little PC.

Good idea as you can turn it into a Vortexbox.
Make sure you avoid paying for Windows or any other Microsoft stuff, quite often when you buy a PC you buy Microsoft stuff which is unnecessary when you are just going to format the thing.

Playback on the Mac works very well and at full resolution. Just avoid antivirus/firewall software like VirusBarrier, they interfere with artwork transmission.

Thanks everybody for advice
I'm trying Twonky on a macbook and works great. With full cover art if it's not embeeded. N-stream downsize the covers!!! I can't understand why!!!
I'll try playback tomorrow. Let you know
