Can anyone explain why....

..if we have ALL have a day off for a royal wedding/funeral/ coronation the country stays afloat, but if those same people go on strike the country looses billions of pounds???????

Ditto. Same money lost. Maybe if we all went to work on the 30th they could use all those billions to fill the unpvoven but propaganda friendly notion of a hole in public sector pensions.

With a public holiday most of the country doesn't work.

 

With a strike other people are forced to take time off.

 

Teachers force schools to close which forces parents to have to say at home.

 

With a holiday people tend to enjoy themselves spending money at businesses that are open.

Maybe we could make up the difference by producing commemorative strike tee-shirts and mugs, selling the TV rights around the world and making it a tourist bonanza.
