unitiqute wireless problems

Posted by: philthemuss on 01 December 2011

Hello
Just got a unitiqute and am having problems with all of the wireless functions.
I setup the wireless on the unitequte, everything worked fine. Found my router right away and i thought i would try the iradio, but just got stuck searching for stations.
So i looked at the network settings again, and it got stuck looking for my router. Looked at some other stuff, then went back to network settings and it found the router right away. Tryed the iradio again, stuck searching again. Back to network settings, nothing. And so on and so on. Same with the upnp, it played some songs off my compter with wireless, then when i tried radio, nothing. Back to upnp, and it couldn't find my computer.
I have the newest and best router, whole house is full of devices running off it. Feels like im missing something simple here.
    Any ideas?

You have to ask your dealer for help.

You have to be sure your router is set to Multicasting, UPnP is enabled and your WiFi signal is strong enough at the Qute (try another place...). The Naim boosted antenna may be a cheap solution.

Everything on my router checks out. Tried a factory reset too. And even ran a cable to the Qute, but no luck with iradio. The upnp works sometimes.

Finally figured it out. Opened up my wireless (unsecure) and it works perfect. Anyone want free wireless? Check my info for my street address.

Some details of your "newest and best router" such as model number and firmware revision may help Naim to narrow down the problem. If you can get access and stream with an unsecured network then it looks like the WPA negotiation may be failing when you are in secured mode. When you said "everything worked fine" did the UnitiQute get an IP address from the router? Have you also made sure you entered your passphrase using the correct case? I know mine didn't work until I entered the letters in upper case.

Wireless on my uniti qute was a bit hit and miss, so I plunged for a wd live wire - I disabled wireless on the qute and it now works a treat. I wasn't sure if homeplugs affect sound quality by polluting the mains, but haven't noticed anything obvious. Hope this helps cheers Nick

The other thing you might want to try if you want to stick with wireless is to go into the settings of the router and change the maximum speed output of the router - the latest 'n' routers will transmit at up to 300mbps, but if you lower it to 150 or even 54 the uq should be happier connecting Cheers

For some reason my Unitiqute doesn't connect to my apple airport extreme using wireless. I have an airport express acting as a wireless bridge. This has the advantage that I can now stream iTunes using an optical connection.

What is this 'best' router you mention?

hi The router i had problems with is a netgear wnr2000. It now works with security. I had my router blocked for porn and some other time restrictions. "Teenagers at home". My advice for anyone with router problems is a simple reset to factory defaults, and update to newest version. Not just update to newer version. Even if everything else in the network works fine. I havent had time to block the porn and put time restrictions back. "My teenage boys love that dad bought a new stereo" Ill try to post if i notice a problem after blocking these funktions. Hope this helps, Just a reminder, to people that havent installed there wireless themselves, if you reset your router, you will loose all of your wireless untill you set it up again. Stereo sounds great by the way. streaming flac through playback, and spotify through airport express. best regards Phillip
