Hi
Just thinking about buying a unitiqute for streaming from an imac, but also for the radio and the headphone socket.
But I have downloaded the manual for this and noticed that the preamp output is 'post volume control' so is there a risk of causing damage to the 252 if i connect these sockets? or is the only way to do it through a dac using the digital output?
The other question is if I do it through the tape input/output of the 252 back to the analogue input could i then listen to other sources ie cd/vinyl on headphones through the unitiqute headphone socket.
thank you in advance
Mark

I see no reason why you cannot connect a 252 to a UQ as a 200 can be connected. The UQ will just become the pre-amp section of the set up and all sources should be accessible via the headphones or what is the point?
If you read carefully in the 3rd section of points about the pre-amp output it makes it clear that the UQ is in charge.
A cracking set up I would say.

Is the AV input available on the 252? Turn on Unity Gain (observing cautions outlined in the manual) and turn the amp section of the Qute off. Output from analog pre out.
If AV is in use already, you would want Tape Out from the Qute, which it does not appear to have, but the Uniti does.

Hi Mark
I have a UQ running through a 252/250 combo with no issues. You simply set the speakers 'off' on the UQ and set a sensible volume to match your other inputs on the 252. I run mine through the Tuner input and it sounds great.
I've never tried, but I assume I can just use the UQ to listen to its own inputs via its headphone socket - perhaps I'll give it a try tonight. I did wonder whether I could connect it to a tape loop input on the 252, and with the right sort of cable, use it to listen to one of my other sources through the headphones. I haven't read the manual carefully enough to see if this is possible.
Best wishes
Gavin

I've just checked the manual online, and it confirms there's an analogue input (RCA phonos), so I'd be quite confident that with the right cable (just like one you'd use to connect a cassette deck) you could connect it to a tape loop input on the 252 to listen to a CD through the UQ's headphone socket.

I tried the Unitiqute into the 252/SC and wasn't crazy about the sound to be honest, though of course by most standards it's terrific.
Looking forward to buying an ND5XS, but impossible to obtain as Naim dogged by fascia supply issues apparently.
