Horrible paper inner sleeve on a great new Ranier Maria LP

Posted by: mutterback on 07 December 2011

I just received the new Rainer Maria LP from Polyvinyl Records. Its fantastic, in groovy yellow vinyl.  Highly recommended. If you like Sleater Kinney, you'll love Rainer Maria.

However, it came in the cheapest possible, scratchy paper inner sleeve. (white one with the corners rounded off) I've started seeing this more and more on new vinyl.  Cost savings, sure, but we're paying a premium for the vinyl exactly for sound quality and cool packaging, both of which are defeated by the cheap sleeve. You have to cut it off to avoid scuffing the LP before the first listen.

Have others seen this?

Mutt,

This has been a pain in the bum for the vinyl buying public over many years.

We vinyl players/buyers?

Just bulk buy, keep a good stock of quality polly paper inner sleeves so we can change the naff  paper or card ones that come with new and second hand vinyl.

Lots of choices out there for good quality inners.
