conversion workaround 196khz into 96/24

Hi Members,

I need some advize. Just ought the Antonio Forcione "Meet Me in London" CD at 192khz in FLAC format. I was hoping my SQ Touch would play it, but it doesn't. The SQ is limited to 96/24. Can somebody advize me how to convert 192/24 into 96/24. I use Windows 7 with DbPowerAmp and iTunes. Converting to 96 can be done, but than the sample rate drops to 16 in iTunes, whereas I want to keep the 24bit. Whatis the workaround ?

Iver,

dbpoweramp should be able to convert to a new 24/96 file.

Hi Richard,

AM I correct I need to go to the config center of dbPoweramp ? Ideally I directly convert into ALAC. I can re-set to 24bit, but can't find the setting to convert into 96khz. Could you help.

Is this the right way to go, Or should I convert the original FLA 196 into FLAC 96/24 first?

got it .....need to use the DSP effects in dbPowerAmp and specifically to Resample effect option. Case closed :-)

I play several 24/192 files on SB Touch and Duet. SOX in the Squeezeserver (or whatever it's called this week!) should automatically downsample it to the maximum that the player can play - 24/96 in the Touch's case. Certainly easier than converting the file and better if you have several players with different capabilities sharing a library. If it doesn't work for you, you need to look in the file formats in the advanced settings.

The way I solved it was by convertingFlac to AIFF. DbPoweramp than provides the option to resample down to 96/24. Cheers, Iver

Slightly off subject but can anyone confirm that an HDX will play 192/24 wav files?  Or only 96/24?  I have not tried downloading either but would like to given them a go.  Presumably 192/24 is a lot better?

There have been a few posts about 96 / 192 differences.

In terms of Naim performance the upgrade boards for the NDX are just starting to circulate (I am waiting for mine to arrive) but comment before was not a huge difference.

Comments have been that the 16bit to 24bit change was much more of a difference.

Suggest you have a quick search.
