Fidelia update, 1.2.0b1

Posted by: James L on 19 December 2011

Anyone game enough to try the Fidelia update?

I say game enough because their Twitter feed suggests you back-up your database first!!

I'm currently running Vers. 1.1.2 which I downloaded several weeks ago with no problems.

Running the support update say's it's the current version.

I'm eagerly awaiting the version that supports album art work, which I'm lead to believe is imminent.

Just checked on Facebook; there's a beta 1.2.0 version that supports art work.

I will investigate further.

Here's the betanotes from Audio file Engineering

1.2.0b1 Dec 19 2011 Download

I'm going to give it a go.

If you have Fidelia and want to try the full feature beta version, find it under the Support tab at Audiofile Engineering.

James can you post you're findings.

I have the Standard version. Is the Advanced version worth the money?

Posted this enquiry on the Fidelia Forum :

Has anyone downloaded the above yet. If so have you encountered any problems.
What improvements have you noticed?
Can you revert back to the 1.1.2 if necessary?

Reply from Audiofile Engineering:

Improvements:

+ 64-bit
+ album artwork
+ metadata display & editing
+ "memory playback" (in Advanced)
+ new headphone listening module (requires additional license)

You can revert back to 1.1.2 if necessary. Do not use version 1.2 if you use VST's as they are no longer supported.

I tried it but had licensing issues.

Now my original version only runs in trial mode and I can't use my license number at all....despite doing a fresh install.

I've emailed the guys for a solution.

I'd suggest holding off!

James is it running in trial mode because the beta gives you access to the Advanced features for a limited period.

I seem to remember when I first installed Fidelia it ran in "Trial Mode" for 15 days while the Advanced features were active. After this period "Trial Mode" indicator disappeared and the Advanced features were disabled, because I did not purchase them after the trial period. I don't think "Trial Mode" is detrimental to the performance.

I hope you sort things out. According to Audiofile you should be able to restore v. 1.1.2.

Let us know the outcome.

Good luck.

Hi Graham

Reply from AE re my problem...

Hi James

Noooooooo! You had them installed at the same time! How could you!

It's actually not your fault. The error lies in the third license that's introduced in the beta version. This crashes the release version when it tries to find this "new" license. Our developers are aware of this and you won't have this problem when we release 1.2 to the public.

For now, uninstall the release version (1.1.2) and use the beta licenses I just provided you to register 1.2.0b1. (You're welcome for the Advanced beta license!)

Let me know if you run into any issues here on out.

Hi James,

Are they offering you the Advanced version F.O.C. ? Maybe it was worth the inconvenience.

As I said before if you do instal v1.1.2  it would be good to know your opinion of this new version.

If you check the Fidelia forum there has already been a comment made by a participant.

Hi Graham

Haven't had a chance to spin the new version through the hifi because we've had another major earthquake where I am.... I've had to lay the speakers on the floor until the aftershocks reduce in size and frequency... :-(

But yes, I have an advanced license! But I think it's timed to expire late February....not too sure on that.

Hi James,

I heard about the latest round of quakes on our BBC News 24 channel. Hope everything's O.K. with you, and it hasn't spoilt your Xmas. After reading the Fidelia forum I think I'll wait until the release of the production version. If past upgrades are anything to go by it should be worth the wait.

All the best and good luck to you all out there.

Graham
