Stocking stuffers in times of austerity?

Posted by: Honeyquince on 21 December 2011

Ok, we've had all the aspirational wish lists for Santa but in these austere times (as a public servant Santa's had a two year pay freeze!) maybe we should be thinking along the lines of stocking fillers. So what would be your choice of gizmo or gubbin that you would like to see in your stocking this Christmas?

I'm thinking an IOU from my friendly local Naim dealer to spend 30 minutes with me doing a bit of cable dressing - oooo the luxury!

I'm hoping for a copy of the new Tom Waits CD. And maybe a nice bottle of wine. Easily pleased, me.

'So for once in my life let me get what I want, Lord knows, it would be the first time'.

The Complete Smiths remastered by Mr J Marr at a silly price.

I lie of course, I have Naim......

Yep, both sound good to me. Is this wearI invest in in an elastic stocking(sounds faintly medical!)

The Smiths Complete is a wonderful thing. No stocking is stuffed without it. I've already bought it as my own Christmas treat; Lady E can't abide Moz so there was no way she'd buy it for me.

Have a listen to Silver Seas - 'Chateau Revenge'. David Hepworth's recommendation of the year.

Hepworth and Baker have been plugging the Silver Seas; not sure about them live - haven't seen a gig, only TV and radio sessions, but the studio tracks I've heard sound decent.

I'll Yamaha my brother's CD copy of Complete and save for the vinyl.

Stocking; Box of Liquorice Allsorts, and some bottles of Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout - to go with Christmas cake.

Merry Christmas,

OW
