Recommended Retail Price

Ok, perhaps I mean Manufacture's Suggested Selling Price - whatever.
I noticed a small article in a newspaper today suggesting that the government was considering ending the practise of any form of price fixing, recommended, suggested or otherwise on electrical goods.
Examples included things like telvisions and washing machines, the sort of things you might buy in PC World, Curry's, Commet etc.
Anybody heard anything more tangible and whether it might apply to Naim-type products.
Would such a change be for the better or worse?
Cheers
