Merry Christmas and Les Miserables

A Merry Christmas to all our readers!!!

We had our 40th Wedding Anniversary on 20th December, and on 17th I took SWMBO to see Les Mis again.  Would have been on the 20th, but they apparently chose to close the big West End Shows down for Christmas after that date.  Not just Les Mis either, because I tried on-line for other shows, and the same final date (17/12/11) seemed to apply all round.

Performance was OK, but not as good as I recall.  During the interval I was talking to the bloke next to me and we both agreed that it was being played too fast, so that everything seemed rushed and tne big slow numbers weren't being given enough time to breathe.  Perhaps they were trying to get off early for their Christmas holidays?

Only other legacy of that weekend was that we stayed overnight at our youngest daughter's house in Wimbledon, and I seem to have caught my 8/12 old grandson's cold.  Ah ... the pleasures of kids.  Still, he had a great time bouncing up and down on my lap, giggling and pulling my glasses off.

Sorry to learn Les Mis has gone downhill a bit - it's one of my favourite musicals.

Treat yourself to the BluRay of their 25th. anniversary show, it's wonderful!

I'll think about doing that.  It was the 4th time we'd seen the show, and the first time I didn't have tears in my eyes at certain points.  Listened to the CDs last night, and they still provoke the emotional responses.
