Viewing CD Cover art (Liner Notes) on iPad

With all my digital music having been streaming based for a few years I find the only thing I miss about CD's is reading the liner notes whilst listening to my music. With the recent upgrade to an NDX from Sonos I now don't have any need for CD's.
HDTracks supply cover art as PDF documents which I save along with the tracks. It would be possible to scan (tedious I know!) covers from my existing CD collection to do the same.
It would then be great to be able to view these documents on the iPad which is used to control the NDX.
Has anyone looked into ways of doing this in a user friendly way. Some thoughts are:
- Use CD Cataloging software like Music Collector which allows the saving of links or documents in the software. I have tried this with the Windows version and it works well but apparently the links are not displayed in the iPad version. Any thoughts on suitable software?
- Create a database driven website and run on a local web server to allow the browsing of the liner note files in a suitable hierarchy. This would be quite straightforward to do and would work with the iPad or any device that has a web browser and a PDF viewer.
- Use an API to interrogate the UPNP stream from the NDX if possible which would identify what is playing, this could then render say a webpage or something more sophisticated to allow the viewing of the CD liner notes that are currently playing.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
