Back to the original topic...

The FLAC download is not available to USA customers (even though the company is headquartered in Virginia).  We are directed to some kind of Android store that is selling a 320 MP3 version.  Anyone have experience with this?

Hampton Coliseum 1981 is now available for download. Does anybody know what it's like? I confess that by this time I was losing interest in them and find their live stuff from then very sloppy.

Hi Tom,

Yeah I got emailed about this too. I confess to being a bit confused by this release. I thought the whole point was to release material which represented a period not documented by existing releases. In this case 1982's  "Still Life (American Concert)" documents it exactly and I seem to recall that at least one of the tracks on it (possibly more) is from the Hampton concert - you can hear this in one of Jagger's intro's so it's probably a radio broadcast that has been cleaned up a bit. I'll be giving this one a swerve.

Cheers

Scott

'Get Your Leeds Lungs Out' is the one they should release. G

Definitely. They were at the top of their game on that tour. I saw them in Glasgow just a few days before the Leeds gig and they were fabulous although as far as I remember it was quite a bit shorter than Leeds. They did two shows that night. Don't know if they did that in Leeds.

Hi Scott,

As I understand it these are all proper live recordings done by the Stones themselves, not cleaned up bootlegs from elsewhere. For me they were at their peak late 60s, early 70s and the Leeds show is a perfect illustration of just how good they were then. Liver Than You'll Ever Be is one of the best bootlegs of all but sadly I don't think there's an official recording of it.  It's far superior musically to Get Your Ya Yas Out. Fingers crossed they'll find some decent recordings of those shows.

In the 3 weeks since this post, this has changed apparently.  From the US I am offered the mp3 version and the flac version.  The flac version is $2.00 more expensive.

Bart,

Thanks for the tip.  I will check this out.
