HDX problem

Posted by: Hutton1969 on 03 January 2012

My HDX will not rip. The display indicates no disc inserted. I can hear some noises from the drive initially after inserting a cd but they stop after a few minutes. I have tried rebooting but to no avail. Seems to me that it's back to Naim for repair but any suggestions in the meantime would be very welcome.

Hi Hutton!

This has happened to me a number of times too.

I´ve had my HDX-SSD for over a year now and have ripped over a

1000 cd´s.

Try ripping another cd and it will work.

There are some cd´s that my HDX doesn´t like and it just won´t rip.

And no, they are not SACD or any other format, just plain cd´s.

I don´t know why?

So far 12 cd´s out a 1000.

Strange...

Thanks Sonic but I have tried several cd's and the problem repeats. Also, the cd draw sometimes will not open and only after a reboot. Very frustrating!

I have also experienced the cd drawer getting stuck ie not opening.

Try powering down front switch and wait 30 sec after it´s powered down,

then switch off back and wait 1 minute.

Switch on the back and wait for it to power up.

Now go to the front panel meny and press System Setup, then

press Rip or Play Mode, now select OK to play CD.

Press open drawer then close.

Now do the same procedure and select Set To Rip CDs.

Sometimes when I´ve switched from "rip mode" to "play cd" mode and then back it has

worked.

I hope this helps as I know it´s frustrating

Seems the CD drive needs to be replaced. IMHO you should contact your dealer for this one...

Thanks Sonic and Klout.  Have tried pretty much all possible solutions to no avail. Will contact dealer for replacement CD drive.

Is your Internet connection working-I had a similar problem when my ethernet connection failed.

Yes the Internet connection is ok.  I suspect that the failure of the drive door to open plus the refusal to recognise a CD means a mechanical fault.

Hutton,

Sorry to hear of these problems.  I have had the same in the past but usually a full power down for a few minutes and re-boot solves the issue.  I hope it's sorted quickly.

Please keep us updated.

Jason

Have tried re-booting several times but to no avail.  The dealer has confirmed the CD drive must be replaced which hopefully they can do in store.  I am just waiting for confirmation that they have received the part.
