Superuniti Network speed

Posted by: jobseeker on 11 January 2012

I've just finished replacing and moving my router so I can connect my Superuniti via a network cable, rather than wirelessly. I went to the trouble of getting one with gigabit ports. My Vortexbox is connecting at 1000, but the Superuniti at 100. Presumably it does not have gigabit connection capability, or could there be a problem ? I can't find anything in the spec's one way or the other.

out of intrest, were you experiencing problems over the wireless network?

I can't track it back, but I'm sure it's in this forum that a nice mate was technically explaining the required bandwidth for music through network cable and wifi.  I remember that cable in a 100 port was already a way more then enough even for High res.

Sorry for not being able support my post with a link.  I'll come back if I find it.

Not definitive but I would be surprised if the SuperUniti had gigabit connectivity. Even at 24/192 100MB/s is many times faster than is required to stream music.

Now is it me or are you doing an awful lot of stressing? You've got a superb bit of kit that doesn't require the tweaking that some separates system owners thrive on. So please relax in that 9x9 room of yours and let the music engulf your your senses.

PS Have you tried TCP on that acne? I used to swear by it, or was it people swore at me. Never could remember. But I bet its stress that's causing it.

It's 100MB/s.

All the streamers have 100 Mbps ports, as already stated, this is plenty fast enough for any music you may have.

It was well worth buying the gigabit router as more and more new products will support that speed, but not necessary for streaming music.

Thanks for the ressurance guys. I'll stop fretting.

Actually, the wireless performance was pretty good. There were some mystery loss-of-network type moments on the odd occasion. I'm sure it sounds better now it's hard-wired. Am I imagining that ?

My Uniti worked well with wireless but now it is hardwired with the server on their own switch everything sounds better and works more quickly - especially nStream Tog
