Can't add new folder to Buffalo NAS

Posted by: Dungassin on 11 January 2012

Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!   Not sure whether to post this here or in Padded Cell.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've got a 2TB Buffalo NAS which up to now has been used only for general backup (photos, home videos etc).  It's connected to my home network (BT HomeHub2), 2 laptops both using Windows 7.

I can see and access the drive to read and add files to existing shared folders both from my laptop (Ethernet), and SWMBO's (Wifi)

However, I am now seriously considering a move into streaming audio and have arranged an audition of various bits and pieces at Cymbiosis.  Thought I'd try adding a Shared music folder to the Buffalo, but rightclicking doesn't come up with the New Folder option, and the copy/paste commands on the right click menu are greyed out.

I'm pretty sure that when I set up my own shared folders on this NAS that I just did it the same way as any other Windoze folder : right click on screen > New Folder > then set the folder up as a share.

Am I delusional, or has something gone wrong?

Solved it.  All down to my stupidity/faulty memory.  Forgot you had to do this via "the web".
