Hi all, can anyone help me make a decision.
I am a total beginner and would like to digitise the family photos that were taken before we had a digital camera. There will be quite a few old pre 1960's phtos and I may even do some important negatives I become more competent.
I have an imac and mac book pro
I use a panasonic TZ3 camera
Normally have preference for epson printers but next camera looks like a Canon
Do epson have the better scanning hardware or Canon due to their high end camera background?
Help appreciated
Many thanks

I like Epson, but it depends a lot on the film stock you are trying to scan. B&W is pretty straightforward, colour can have you changing your name to Sisyphus. It's definitely worth looking for Silverfast software, which may come bundled with the Epson. I use an Epson 750 but I think the hardware is all pretty consistent.
You might be better posting the query on an analogue film forum.

I don't have experience with Epson. I have owned many Canon printers and scanners (I use a Canon A95 camera), and have loved them to pieces. I have never had a problem, and I'm amazed at how good the scans of photographs have been. I'm very careful to keep the glass spotlessly clean. I own a very high end Canon printer, with several inks, that get expensive fast, and have resorted to using one of their cheapest scanner/copier/printers, to save on the cost of ink. The scans are flawless from this cheap printer of theirs. Believe it or not, it cost me $79! I'm amazed at how much quality they've crammed into this all-in-one. Good luck with your purchase.

Sorry for the bad punctuation above but I could not edit my post.
Thanks for your replies, I just cannot decide between the two, they must be very similar in performance that I am splitting hairs.
Cheers
