Back To Black Vinyl Pressing Quality

Posted by: HiFiKid on 02 February 2012

All

Just received a Back to Black pressing of Supertramp Breakfast in America.

Sound quality and packaging is superb but pressing quality is poor.

Constant crackles some really loud and surface noise through out.

I have cleaned it on a Knosti record cleaner and used an anti static Zerostat gun on it all to no affect.

Is this typical of Back to Black pressings or am I just unlucky

I have bought several Back to Black releases over the last few months & the quality of the pressing varies enormously! it's seems to be pot luck.

Hi Blueknowz

I have spken with the supplier i got it from,  his advice is to go for the USA pressings as they are of a much better quality.

Don't know how you can tell as nobody states this

If you search the discogs website for, Breakfast In America Supertramp, you'll find the catalog numbers of every release. The US release is SP3708.

Most online sellers indicate the catalog number. A lot of sellers on auction sites include it in the description.

I have bought a few, and the quality of pressings is ok regarding crackles and pops.

Its the SQ that can be a bit hit and miss .

You need to get a better RCM ,The Knosti  is not up to it IMO.

If you are buying second hand or new quality vinyl albums you need better man.
