If I were you I would get in your car, or on the train and head down to Newport and visit Diverse Vinyl. They have a great selection and you will be able to browse the shelves rather than the web - a pleasurable way to pass an afternoon. Take a look at their website to see their wide choice of vinyl.

Yes I buy from local shops including oxfam and online from the likes of:

Diverse Vinyl

Rockbox

What Records

HMV

ClassicLPs

Vinylnet

You can order direct from some record companies such as sundazed and rough trade.

Best wishes

Andy

I get a fair bit off Amazon, and I think their support is much better than ebay who I have had a few problems with sellers.

Another great place to go is the car boot sales, amazing what you can find.  It's also a good way to get the kids out too!

I use Cobb records in Bangor north Wales when I can get in, other than that it's generally ebay, Amazon or general google searches. So far I've been very lucky with ebay with vinyl, everything has turned out peach, I appreciate my time will come. Support your local record shop if you can, or lose it, beside you don't have to pay postage on each one so you can get twice as many!!

As you rightly say you can often get the music from the artist's own web site. You can buy his recent vinyl direct from Mr McCartney's web site for much much less than elsewhere.

I am lucky to live in a town with a good selection of record shops selling vinyls (new and s/h). Below are the ones I visit most regularly.

Helsingin työntekijät

... and yes I like to buy my vinyls from an actual store. So far I have never ordered one on line but maybe that day at some point will come.

Action Records in Preston, either from their own site or as a seller on Amazon.

They pack vinyl well for post, which is important to me.

Haven't been to the shop, but I'm told its excellent with a good selection of new and 2H vinyl. I intend to visit when I am next in the area.

Graham,

+1 from me

I have used Action Records in Preston over many years.

I have always had great fast service from them.

I have never had to return a album.

What town do you live in?

It might help people when they are on their travels?

This is Helsinki, Finland. A little bit off from the normal travel routes I am afraid but if you stop by here there are at least 6-7 quality shops worthwile to visit if there is any spare time (of course only my opinion). Since this is quite small town all of them are well within reach from the city centre.

The vinyl offers at discogs.com are worth browsing (http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?format=Vinyl)

I've also bought LPs from soundstagedirect.com (http://www.soundstagedirect.com/) but usually anything they have will also be found on Amazon and you don't pay the horrendous shipping costs.

And, of course, acousticsounds (http://store.acousticsounds.com/cat/5/Vinyl_Records), for those with deep pockets.

I have, to date, only had good experiences with Amazon. The packaging is a little O.T.T. but better safe than sorry!

Stu, nice to have your confirmation.  Only been using Action in last 6 months, but excellent on all counts so far.  Ta.
