ND5XS to NDAC - which digital interconnect?

Posted by: Chris G on 13 February 2012

I am delighted to have added the ND5XS to my Supernait and NDAC.  24bit files downloaded from The Classical Shop (Chandos recordings) and from e-classical sound great.  I am now looking for a good quality digital interconnect.  I hope to audition the Chord Signature in a few weeks and wonder which interconnects others are using for this combination?  I have Chord cables throughout my system so I want to consider this option first.

Yup.  Dont you DARE try to remove the clipping on my "Skullflower" or "Autechre".  Dont kill the yummy in my "Thee Oh Sees".  And if I see your software anywhere near my "Guided By Voices" I will sick Radiohead on you.

Hello,

going back to the original theme of this thread - I have the same query!

Is there possibly some consensus for the best digital interconnect between NDX and DAC, in a few price brackets, say:

- up to 50 £

- 50 to 100 £

- 100 to 200 £

(above 200£, I guess the DC1 would be the cable of choice).

Thanks ever so much,

Stefan

Stefan, are you upto making RF cables...? You do no need to careful with the plug connections.. If so so you can build a superb cable for a few pounds (<£10) using 75 Ω BNC plugs and metre of RG59/u cable. Put ferrite chokes around each end. Failing that go DC1.. I got mine bundled with a several component purchase. A jump in price but well made... I still use ferrite chokes around each end to get the Naim DAC sounding über sweet.

I think there is quite a lot of tat out there with fancy looking connectors and cable surrounds... Really for SPDIF all you need is a good quality RF patch lead with 75 Ω characteristic impedance.
