Grammy impressions

I used to not watch them years ago but lately they've been quite interesting. I'm glad Adele  won and I was impressed by Bruno Mars with his hip James Brown early 60s band sound. I thought all of the duos or group combinations were 2nd rate. Tho the pairing of Rhianna and Cold Play worked well since I don't really know either of them. The electronic dance music wasn't my thing either, to one young guy who thought he'd impressed me with it I told him it was like sonic wallpaper.  Such a strange look from him. I turned it off when it was after 10PM and the commercials were taking over the music.

I had memories of the 60s broadcasts when rock bands were often dismissed and won by Sergio Mendez Brazil66.  Now you don't even see classical, jazz or blues.

+1 for Bruno.  First time seeing him, so was interesting to watch . . . very entertaining, though clearly derivative.  Mind you I never watch the grammy's because most of the bs that passes for pop music, there were some definite highlights.  The Foo Fighters rock!  Seriously good old school rock n'roll.  Raw power, energy, and emotion that is as honest as it gets today.  Similar to blues in that regard.

Loved the finale.  McCartney joined by Dave Grohl, Springsteen, and two other guitar players trading 4's on the Beatles "the End".  Great stuff, though Abe laboriel is going to put Mac in his grave. . . . (love his drumming)!
