Quick question - recently relocated from Canada to UK and would like to buy a cheap BR player to use temporarily until we move into definitive housing here. There are several players available for less than 80 quid on Amazon - don't want to spend more at this point.
Have small collection of region 1 (US/Canada) BR discs already and have started buying UK-region BRs too.
Thought I read somewhere that, unlike DVD players, most BR players play all BR discs irrespective of region coding - does anyone know if this is correct?

Tony is right, though you can get modified Blu Ray players that allow multi region switching for Blu-ray and DVD such as the OPPO but not at anywhere near the price you suggest you want to pay.
Hate to say it but since you mention a 'small collection' of US blur-rays maybe the cheapest option would be to be critical and replace the ones you reckon you will view again with their UK region twins.

Thanks, chaps. Looked through my collection of around 20 BR titles. Around half appear to be regionless with the remainder being region A. To be honest not a great loss, but did re-buy "The Lives of Others" at Amazon.co.uk (less than seven quid delivered). The rest I can live without...

Update - bought a £60 player online from a well-known chain store - due to be delivered at the end of the week.
Comes as multi region for DVD out of the box.
Bought a downloadable firmware update from ebay (OEM firmware apparently issued for the Australian market) for £2.75 which permits region-free Blu-ray playing.
If anyone is interested, will report back at the end of the week...
