Is something wrong/worse with the forum again?

Posted by: BigH47 on 20 February 2012

Getting no top or bottom strips. Same on another (Ubuntu) computer. Looks like it did when the main site went down, but it's OK this time.

Don, Thanks, but I'm sure I had nowt to do with it.

Something else must've just happened... another new Hoop.la logo... each thread now has an orange arrow when you put your mouse over it.... and erm, I can't seem to find any older threads past the first page in each part of the forum. For example...

https://forums.naimaudio.com/di...rum/1566878604036667

Just checked, and they're still showing up in search results, but try clicking on 'Next' or 'Older'.

Same here. And the "new" does not disappear either when I have read the latest on a thread. Why do they bother with making so many pointless, normally backward, changes.

Posted on: 22 February 2012 by winkyincanada

This is hilarious. I con't get to any older threads either. It does give me the option to be "The first to post a thread" in each forum when I click "Older", though.

Why do they keep breaking it? What is going on here?

Posted on: 22 February 2012 by BigH47

Oh that'll be better now we have pretty coloured buttons.

Posted on: 22 February 2012 by Don Atkinson

Yes, looks like you can't access older threads anymore.

What's more, there doesn't appear to be any way in which you could quickly get to a particular page of threads - you used to be able to skip about 8 pages at a time which meant you could find a particular thread fairly quickly.

Bloody Hoopless - as usual - its really gone beyond a joke. More than a year of pissing around like a bunch of true wankers.

Richard, I know you would like peace and tranquility on the forum, even in the padded cell, please accept my text above as the "moderated" version of my true thoughts.

Cheers

I seem to be able to access threads from as far back as 2003. Has something been fixed or am I misunderstanding things?

Thankfully yes, or there would have been tears.

As it is, we get this:

It won't let me update my profile. I started making changes but it's got stuck half way through. Also, the search button has gone. I really hope Naim are less forgiving of their other suppliers!

It is twelve months since ho[o]pl[ess]a took over and we were promised the future of the Forum would be an improvement within a few weeks or months.

By now this shambles has no possible excuse ...

No problems so far with Waterfox. But nothing's any better.

George, we haven't complained enough. Remember, Hoopless only react. They are not a pro-active world-class outfit. And they only react when hoards of people complain relentlessly.

At least, that was my interpretation of one of their posts a few months back.

Most of us (I guess) are simply resigned to the fact that Naim are somehow stuck with Hoopless for the time being and Hoopless either can't or can't be bothered to provide the sort of service that Naim do.

I suppose to be fair to Hoopless, not many other companies could match the sort of service that we all enjoy from Naim.

Cheers

It's still not working and hasn't for a good few months now!!

Anyone???!

Posted on: 15 March 2012 by joerand

My profile won't update unless I click the "Toggle WYSIWYG" feature back and forth. Same happens when i try to "Reply With Quote Now".  Sorry if this is already common knowledge.

Thanks for the tip joerand!! It worked that way, but who the f*** came up with such a stupid idea??!

Keep it simple hopeless, anyone listening??!!

Ah yes! I remember those heady days!

Just to be a little pedantic here (because pedantry is my hobby), I would point out that you appear to have secularism and atheism a bit confused here. It's perfectly possible to be a theist and a secularist. A secularist is simply someone who considers that the church should not have any say in the workings of the state and should not enjoy a privileged position in society.

The godless infidels who may think that theists are a trifle irrational in their beliefs are the atheists.

All the best,

Trev

Theists don't have any thoughts concerning secularism. Surely this is an ecumenical matter.
