Possible mistakes on Naim product pages

Posted by: Razor on 24 February 2012

On the list on features for the ND5 XS on the Naim website product pages it says:

"Naim reference non-magnetic, low-resonance low microphony case"

I have an ND5 XS and it does not have a reference case (which I understand to be extruded continuous sections). Given this mistake I wonder what others there might be. For example, the ND5 XS and NDX feature lists both state that the respective transformers are 200VA - I would be surprised if they are really the same.

Razor,

well, it is non-magnetic, low resonance and with low microphonics - the top and sides made from cast magnesium zinc alloy and the chassis from aluminium.  Will have to check on the trannies...

True, but for other XS series components such as the Nait XS is says:

"Series 5 Aluminium chassis and sleeve with extruded front panel."

with no mention of 'reference'.

@Richard Dane

Any confirmation of transformer power ratings yet? I really hope Naim can get accurate info on their pages.

Razor -

Given you pointed this out on Friday night, don't you think Richard deserves more than just a few business hours on Monday to get this sorted?

Richard -

That said, and given the recent NDS misinformation (and given that we are all guilty of poor cut and paste jobs), maybe this is a good time for Naim to perform a technical walk through of all of its product web pages.  Unfortunately, I suspect there are more than just a few people making purchase decisions based solely on the product descriptions and specs they read at naimaudio dot com!

This lack of attention to detail could easily be costing Naim sales.

Jus' sayin.

I haven't been able to check but it is quite possible that the same VA rating of transformer is used by the NDX and ND5XS ... that doesn't mean they are the same transformer or the same power supply...

Cheers

I'm not based at the factory, but looks like Phil can probably alert those responsible. I've e-mailed Alison just to be sure...
