nd5xs option

hi, all

I've had ndac/xps2 for a year (headphones only) and I've loved it. Even the few itunes I've converted to wav sound great. Will the nd5 add to the sq or will it just be a little more convenient for playing rips. I've been happy using usb drives and I don't have lots of cds any desire to set up a nas.

I followed the thread on setting up a mac mini and decided it wasn't for me. Have a demo planned for Tuesday but would be happy to read of other's  experience.

The 5-6K 555ps option seems to be out of my league.

Just more convinient to get your music from the NAS (that you said you don't want to setup) to the nDac.

The best sq for the nDas is from usb sticks.

thanks.

I'd still prefer to continue using usb. I was just hoping that playing them on the nd5 (using it as transport for the ndac) would add to the sq.

Nope. Bringing the ND5XS would make the SQ worse.

I wonder what you'll do with a DS player if you're not going to set it to access your music stored somewhere on your home network... or did I misunderstand you?

You may try inexpensive entry level music servers like the Squeezebox Touch to see if you like the idea of a musical server, and if you do, then upgrade to the ND5XS... or if you liked what you're going to hear in your planned demo, borrow a ND5XS from your dealer for a couple of days, to see the real deal in action into your set-up.

Minimize your deception risk with good planification.

Bye.

George - looks like you have the ideal setup for what you want to do. The ND5XS won't bring anything to the party, sound quality wise, in this case. How about a Powerline for the XPS2 if you are looking for an upgrade without going all the way up to the 555PS ?

Do you mean to say you have converted AAC downloads from iTunes to WAV?

Thanks for your comments. I tried the power and didn't like the change.
I change the iTunes file to wav otherwise I can't paste onto USB.
