Fidelia/MBP/optical/nDAC = Homogenized? While CDP/nDAC = Fizz?

Hola.

Just an observation....

I've come to the conclusion that while my "streaming audio solution" sounds very nice indeed, it feels rather homogenized.

As opposed the CD5XS/nDAC which brings out the respective CD's character and energy.

Any clues as to why I'm feeling this?

I'm starting to think that any music sourced via download might be better off being burnt to CD.

Hmmm.

Hmmm.

Have you tried BNC coax  with an SPDIF convertor?

Might be worth a try before doing anything so radical.

That was my first plan of attack Graham!

It will probably be Halide's The Bridge.

Has anyone here gone from optical to USB/SPDIF?
