Superuniti/200

How is the 200 an upgrade over the superuniti. Same number of watts... So the superuniti internal psu doesnt have to power the amp within it?

Mornin'...firstly, they are not the same in watts.  SU is 80 and the Nap200 is 70 watts.

But my understanding is that adding an external power amp is like the

reverse of adding a PSU to a pre-amp.  As you say, it frees the internal amp to

power the internals.  Naim actually recommend the Nap250 to be

added to the SUniti, but they have confirmed to me that a 200 will enhance SQ as

well, just not as much.

+1 for the 250.1 suggestion (if you must upgrade). The 200 did not add that much to the SU in my system.

I also tried a 200 on my SU but it was definitely not worth the "upgrade" for me, however I do believe adding a 250.2 is another thing and I am almost certain I will order one soon

I recently reconfigured my system. Bringing a Superuniti onboard, and keeping my existing 250.2 to match with it.

I have to say, I am very happy with the new set up. It has all the grunt I need, not as refined as my previous system (that was expected), but no less enjoyable.

I have my SuperUniti set to external amp, so the 250.2 is doing all the amplification work, and wonderfully so.

Anyone looking for a 1 box solution will not be disappointed. Anyone not minding the second box will like what they hear and welcome the upgrade IMHO.

Many years ago, I did have a 200 with 202, and I don't really think the 200 would offer much more than what is already within the SuperUniti. Again in IMHO.

Semi-serious box count reduction in mind, I home demoed SuperUniti for a week with my trusty 250.2 and while it's quite a stunning performer (especially as my 252's leftover SC got to feed SL, wow!), back to my dealer it went.

Being used to NDX/XPS/252-level, the drop in SQ was just too much for me.

Also, the lack of pre-out & digi-out return channels and front panel headphone amp (force muting) were major turnoffs, too. That said, SuperNait is no longer my recommendation for someone looking for a Naim integrated.

Btw. It's 5 years since SN got introduced, time for a SuperNait2?
