Mac Mini problem waking up from sleep automatically

I finally  found a way to get the file sharing between my Windows 7 machines and a  Mac Mini running Lion to work. How I did this I do not know but it works fine, the shares are available from my Win7 machine as soon as I wake it from sleep. The mini is wired of course.

But the Mini seems to go too much to sleep, even when the box for allow wake on lan is active under energy saving.

I could get in the habbit of pushing the power button, but I would like it to work automatically.

The dtc also seems to take a long time recognizing the share on the Mac, at least when I wake the mini  from sleep after the DTC is activated on the win 7 machine. So do I just have to forget all about energy saving, and disable all energy saving on the Mini, like others have suggested in previous threads, before Lion was released.

My Mac mini will wake from sleep via WiFi or ethernet when anything else on the network tries to access one of the shared directories, even the iPhone/iPad remote app wakes it from sleep if you want to play a song.  I never touch the power button.

Not sure what you mean by "DTC" ?

There's a special packet that gets sent to the mini that wakes it, Apple routers take care of that and many others routers too.  So may be your router setup or something else about the way you have set up the file shares.
