Unitiserve mains cable bump

Does anyone know what's inside the 'bump' in the Unitiserve mains cable? (that thing that looks like it may be a filter of some kind).    And part 2 of the question, is it safe / advisable / inadvisable to use a Unitiserve mains cable, with the 'bump', on any other equipment?

It's probably a ferrite bead and manufacturers usually use them as a cheap workaround when the piece of kit fails emissions testing. If it is a ferrite bead then it's safe to use on other kit but then you no longer have the bead absorbing the emissions from the device it was attached to.

Thanks Roo... this particular bump has 'Naim' moulded into it, so Naim has obviously seen a reason to incorporate it in the mains lead.  Maybe, as it feeds an in-line transformer, this is the chosen means to clean up the power supply to the Unitiserve.

It's a small custom filter block (rather than a ferrite core over the lead) to stop crap from the switching supply Naim uses for the Unitiserve affecting the main system ( as most would probably use the US within their main stack of equipment). As with any filtered mains lead I wouldn't use it on any other piece of Naim kit. It won't serve any useful purpose other than when used with the Unitiserve.
