They think it will hit 4 million?
I think it will hit double that and a bit more??
Munch.
Didn't know you had painted 4 of them?
One was stolen a few years back IIRC.

Why would anyone pay so much?
This is a picture of Ingrid who walked down to Oslo harbour and then suddenly realised she had left her wig at home.

Have you seen the price of other so called high art, and also stupid prices for modern art?
Yes, but that does not answer the question.
Why would anyone pay so much?
That`s exactly what I hear from friends when they ask the cost of my system!!!

DOH!
I wish it could somehow go to the Munch Museum in Oslo to rejoin the other three versions.
Of course there are less famous Edvard Munch paintings that hang on prinate walls. I know one such in Oslo. I asked if it was a repro! But no, it had been in the familly for a century ...
I noticed it after a vist to the Munch Museum.
ATB from George
George, Thought you might like to know... the owner, Petter Olsen, whose father Thomas was Munch's neighbour, has said the proceeds will help fund a museum, arts centre and hotel dedicated to the artist in Hvitsten, Norway - so all is not lost.
For anyone struggling with the price, here's a pdf of Sotheby's press release for the sale that landed in my inbox a while ago: http://www.rammegaard.no/filer..._Sothebys_Scream.pdf
Lastly, here's the artist’s hand-painted inscription on the frame:
I was walking along the road with two Friends / the Sun was setting – The Sky turned a bloody red / And I felt a whiff of Melancholy – I stood / Still, deathly tired – over the blue-black / Fjord and City hung Blood and Tongues of Fire / My Friends walked on – I remained behind / – shivering with Anxiety – I felt the great Scream in Nature – EM
Priceless.
Dear Chief,
Thae does dound like good news!

I am not one to advocate physical violence, but did anyone else think the auctioneer really needed a slap? Boy was he making the most of his fifteen minutes of fame.
Jamie,
He needs a slap just for the hair do.
