How sad , just how many people did this guy start on the road to guitar excellence?

As I said before the "play in a day" guide was good, but I'm still waiting to find out which particular day it is!

"Guitar Boogie Shuffle" comes up one of three tracks when I search my HDX for Bert Weedon... I remember that track from a long, long time ago when my interest in music was just being awakened.  As you say "RIP Bert - you done good"

(from wiki)...

Herbert Maurice William 'Bert' Weedon, OBE (10 May 1920 – 20 April 2012) was an English guitarist and composer whose style of guitar playing was popular and influential during the 1950s and 1960s. He was the first British guitarist to have a hit record in the UK Singles Chart, in 1959, and his best-selling tutorial guides, Play in a Day, were a major influence on many leading musicians.

Dear Bert,

I must thank you for the many hours spent in my bedroom from a very young age trying to play from your book.

I never got to the end of it.

I went straight to Pictures of match stick men by the Q many years later.

It took me a while ,but i can play it on one string now.

You were a legand in your own life time.

RIP Man.

More sad news. Another part of the British musical establishment gone.

We are normal and we like our freedom

We are normal and we dig Bert Weedon

Happy memories.

Stu.

Stu,

Have you also been able to master the lead to Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl"?

Stu,

I did exactly the same and still have my battered copy somewhere.

Thanks Bert and thanks for influencing so many great musicians.

We are normal and we want our freedom, we are are normal 'cos we dig Bert Weedon ... sung Viv Stanshall. Bert was a hero and one of the most important figures in contemporary music. RIP Mr Weedon - the world needs more people like you: a man who encouraged others to go and do it.
