Uniti - initial set up (streaming)

Posted by: NPD on 23 April 2012

Hi, I'm new to streaming and having problems setting up my Uniti (windows laptop (not apple), synology NAS, sagem router supplied by Sky). Eash time I try to connect my Uniti I get a holding message eg 'starting' or 'initialising' for both streaming and iRadio.

I suspect its a router/network issue but I've tried cable and wireless as well as tweaking the odd setting. Has anyone experienced a similiar challenge, all ideas welcome...

Sincere thanks in advance, Nigel

No expert, but i brought one out to rrio last year when came here to work, and it met with my network and nas here for the first time. Had a few fraught moments until i got it working properly. things I found when first setting mine up were,

connect to network before turning on

When I got the messages you get, I found it best to do a factory reset before trying again

Found at one point that connecting my iPad into the USB helped get things going and for some reason then start connecting to network - was probably just luck.

iRadio doesn't use your laptop so it sounds like a problem with your router. I wonder if it has a firewall on it that you need to do something with - you could try going into its advanced menu and enabling its UPnP support and see if that helps. Sorry I don't have a Sagem router to try, but if you CLICK HERE, it may help.

Hi Nigel. Plug a laptop into the ethernet patch lead that goes to the uniti. Does that work and get an address from your router? If not then check DHCP is enabled on router, if it is enabled and the laptop doesnt swap patch lead or router.

If DHCP is enabled and it just Uniti that doesn't work, it could DHCP interoperability with your Ssgem.

Try using staticd addresses. If your router uses address 192.168.0.1 and network mask 255.255.255.0, then limit the DHCP to say 100 addresses, and give your Uniti and address 192.168.0.200. Ensure in this example your mask (network definition) on both devices is 255.255.255.0 or it won't work.

Many thanks for the responses, I have started to play around with the setting although no joy so far. This said I feel I have learnt a lot in the last 24 hrs so will keep going with the suggestions.

Thanks again, Nigel
