Asset Upnpn and gapless play

Posted by: Redmires on 08 January 2011

When I use Asset Control to play an album off my NAS drive I get gaps where there should be none. If I use the Uniti front panel to select the same album off the NAS I get gapless playback. It's not an issue with the Uniti then so what do I need to get gapless via Asset ? Anyone else having the same issue ?

Why do you want to use Asset control to play the album?

Because the Uniti is on the other side of the room and I can't see the display. Laziness ? ....maybe. But I do like having laptop control as well.

Lazy me too - use n-steam - not bad and likely to get better soon

With the 3.0 firmware, no more gaps when playing from the front panel (Hourray!!!)
Listening to Le Nozze de Figaro is again possible.

Now here is another bizarre behavior in Asset when not controlling the Uniti:

When controlling the Uniti from the front panel with the remote control,  it is still possible to see on "Now Playing" of Asset the track time counters: time elapsed in the track and time remaining.
On "Now Playing", the status bar is still moving on the screen in synch with the track played by the Uniti. Since Asset is not controlling the Uniti, the message on screen says "Not Playing".

In other words, Asset keeps the connection with the Uniti in some sort of monitoring mode. Although Asset is not controlling the Uniti, it is still listening and getting some information about the track played.

I am not complaining because the track remaining time is not available on the Uniti screen, so Asset is actually providing additional information.

Is track remaining time displayed on the n-stream application?

Tog, I guess it is because you can setup a playlist much easier?

Don't you want to listen to this track at this disc, that track from another etc And then you just want to enter into a list then sit quiet just to listen?

On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes I want to select the tracks and then goes into work......

In both cases, controlling the play flow is really really useful
