F1 2010

Well, the off-season has been pretty good so far. New teams, a Senna, new rules and the return of a legend. Will the championship live upto expectations? Will Legard still be doing his best to ruin Brundle's commentary efforts?
Will Big Howard have a good word to say about F1? Will people still act surprised when a driver makes a dumb move? Will people still look back at F1 in the 50s/60s/70s/80s through rose tinted glasses?
I'm looking forward to it, and I'm still trying to work out a way to seeing the Spa GP from beside the circuit, not the sofa.

Nigel Stepney has been sentenced to 20 months in jail for his part in the 2007 theft of car details from Ferrari, for McLaren. He is unlikely to serve any time in jail, for some strange reason. Perhaps the £50m fine McLaren were given has been deemed enough.
And some people still think that McLaren are purer than pure!!

Japanese qualifying..... I think Heikki's catamaran could have taken pole!
I'm so glad that I didn't make the effort to go to this wash-out.

Why let facts get in the way of the usual Ferrari bashing.

Why consistency of application, that's why.

Nice win for Vettel, this will be an exciting finish to the season but I think Red Bull will get at the minimum the constructor title and they have a very good shot at the driver title as well.

Driver's: Alonso. Constructor's: Red Bull.
Massa: no drive 2011.

I'm hoping Webber can maintain his lead and win the title this year...i'm not a big fan of Alonso.
I was surprised Ferrari gave Massa a new two year deal this summer. They may end up paying him to sit next year like they did with Kimi this year.

Tony, I agree re Red Bull and Flippin' Messer (who may well be replaced by Kubica).
But I rather imagine an Australian to get the individual title this year.

I would be very happy if Webber won the driver's crown, but I just feel that Alonso grabbed some valuable points here before going on to win two of the next three.
I just love not being a supporter of one team or driver. Even the lowliest teams are worthy of support, just for making it onto the first grid of the year. And apparently, some of the drivers are even better than me! Imagine!

I'm putting my money on Webber. Would be great to see a bloke from the Antipodes take the title. It's been a while.

One thing for sure, I'm not putting any money on anyone or anything.

If it ain't going to be a brit, the Mark for the title. I'm with Tony, none of my money on the outcome though.
I loved the way Mark took fastest lap on the last lap. Vettel likes to "collect" things to go on his lists.
Just shows Mark was still having a go even if he didn't actually win.
Coincidence? Red Bull wings start to flex again , they are fast again, (admittedly it is a good track for them).
Seemed a lot of strange offs and wheels falling off.
Hands up all those who saw Rosberg's crash and thought MS was involved?

But I have still hope for Vettel.

NEWS Flash:
Glasgow Boys join Ferrari.
"The Ferrari F1 team fired their entire pit crew yesterday."
This announcement followed Ferrari's decision to take advantage of the British government's 'Work for your Dole' scheme and employ some Glasgow youngsters. The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths from Castlemilk were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Ferrari's existing crew could only do it in 8 seconds with millions of pounds worth of high tech equipment. It was thought to be an excellent, bold move by the Ferrari management team as most races are won and lost in the pits, giving Ferrari an advantage over every other team.
However, Ferrari got more than they bargained for! At the crew's first practice session, not only was the Glasgow pit crew able to change all four wheels in under 6 seconds but, within 12 seconds, they had re-sprayed, re-badged and sold the car to the Mclaren team for 8 cases of Stella, a bag of weed and some photos of Lewis Hamilton's bird in the shower.
SORRY COULDN'T RESIST.

Err, they could have started the race a lot earlier than they did today.
I hope this isn't a new precedent for wet races.

Vettel deserved a win, shame that the engine problems took him out. Now the Red Bulls have to chase Alonso.

I can't remember a motorway being closed due to torrential rain, and I presume most cars and driver are inferior to the F1 croud?
Posted on: 24 October 2010 by Tony Lockhart
I think it was said several times that it wasn't so much the rain as the low grip available on the new track. I for one didn't want to see a repeat of the 1975 British GP.

Oh dear Redbull, whata mistacka to makea?
They certainly have an almost unlimited number of ways to fuck up.
Congratulations to all those guys an excellent show considering the conditions.
Del , many people you know drive 500 HP, 250 kg car on almost slick tyres on the motorway? No wipers either?
99% of drivers would find it hard/almost impossible to drive an F1 in the dry let alone in those conditions.
Tony at least today they didn't need wire cutters to get to the cars when they went off?

Ha ha. Or a ropey old transit with Sweeney sirens to drive across the track. Innocent days.

On a serious note, Red Bull are showing us what a huge achievement any team's domination of F1 is. To achieve just one championship is difficult enough, but consecutive seasons such as Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Lotus and others have enjoyed is certainly not a simple matter of throwing money at the problems.

Tony I agree,Redbull are probably not up with McLaren or Ferrari on total spend, may be that last few 10s of millions really does make the difference?
McLaren's space control centre is pretty amazing though.
It just shows that it really isn't over until.......etc etc.

Just as well Button isn't really in contention for the championship! Won't do his race much good at all.
Otherwise, bloody well done to Incredible Hulkenberg and Williams. About time.
