F1 2010

Well, the off-season has been pretty good so far. New teams, a Senna, new rules and the return of a legend. Will the championship live upto expectations? Will Legard still be doing his best to ruin Brundle's commentary efforts?
Will Big Howard have a good word to say about F1? Will people still act surprised when a driver makes a dumb move? Will people still look back at F1 in the 50s/60s/70s/80s through rose tinted glasses?
I'm looking forward to it, and I'm still trying to work out a way to seeing the Spa GP from beside the circuit, not the sofa.

McLaren have passed scrutineering with their "hole" rear wing.

OK in Alberta Canada it looks like it will be on at 5 in the morning, however our clocks go forward this weekend - does this coincide with the UK?

I hope this year is as great as it seems it can be. The numbers of truly talented drivers at the point of the spear is as good as anytime since the 80's, perhaps before. I think there will be six teams that are really competitive with a real dog fight possible among four(Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren). Could be great fun starting at 4:30 a.m this coming Sunday.

Well done Vettel. My fantasy F1 gets off to a great start. Had him as pole, Him and Webber to be 1 and 2 in the actual race and Ferrari to have fastest lap.

Great to see Irish driver Tim O'Glock recover from a 3 wheel episode to finish 18th on the grid and top of the new teams in the Virgin.

Shame about Vettel, overall a pretty boring race IMHO. Not a bad comeback for the old guy.

Slightly boring, but you were still not too sure what the final laps were going to bring. Can't help feeling McLaren will be glad to pick a 3rd place , better than predicted.
A pat on the back for the new guys especially, LOTUS, (my old favourite team), both cars within a couple of laps of full distance and only a couple of seconds off top average times.
LOTUS and a Senna back in the same race, a bit spooky.
Just learned that Clive Chapman gave Tony Fernandes (LOTUS team principle) one of Colin Chapman's black caps

Agree a bit boring
But that track is not a good passing track
RBR seem to have linked up all the bits, is Vessel that much better than Weber ??
Ditto LH & JB
Might be an interesting season to watch the MB vs McL engine battle, I wonder what will materialise if McL get ahead
(++++)
Lotus - hopefully a real car team (opp to bitza kit car)
Alonso - hope he can accept a little more graciously when the downsides come
Masa is back AND on form, who would have thought after last year he would make it back 2nd the 1st race
(----_
The new points system, we could (could we?) end up with a season thats over way before the end
The new fuelling system, they seemed too all back off mid race, or was that tyres ?? Are we gonna have to get used to conservation driving, if so when does it get wheel to wheel real racing

It was interesting seeing an extended test session disguised as a race.
Is that the most boring curcuit to look at. Just shows how much money talks.
Can't wait for the season to start in two weeks in Australia.

It was like watching paint dry. I watched it at 5X speed on the PVR for the most part. They're going to have to do better than this to keep my interest.
If the racing is dull (which it is), they should have more on the tech. Show the various technical solutions that the teams have come up with to maximise performance within the rules. This stuff is genius. Don't dumb it down. The tech is as much where the racing occurs as on the track.

I fell asleep for about 10 laps. Probably a better use of my Sunday afternoon though.

I went out to walk the dog after 20 laps . A shame that the season started in such a bland featureless arena .

"With no refuelling, it will be difficult to see any overtaking, so after the first lap the positions will be set," said Alonso on his Ferrari debut.
Lewis Hamilton, who finished third for McLaren, added: "You start with fuel, you do one stop and it's pretty much a train all the way."
Oh bloody great.

You obviously didn't see Valencia last year. On the whole I was excited to see this race and was interested in the drama of the new teams. Processing all the new 2010 info made the race go better. Hopefully they'll reconfigure that track to make it more interesting.

Oops sorry. F1 2010 looks like living up to previous years where it's more interesting to talk about it than watch it.
It's such a shame cos I know that watching (and hearing) an F1 car in the flesh is anything but boring but these new boring, bland circuits don't help.

What is the F1 broadcast like in England? Lewis Hamilton made reference to hoping the BBC would do a better job of conveying what the drivers are doing; giving the impression that boredom may not entirely be down to the racing.

The problem with the BBC coverage is that it exists. If it was just the race it might not be so bad, but it goes on for hours and not just on race day. Too long, too much in love with itself and too expensive. Just like the sport itself.

No I didn't see the Valencia race. Seems like even the drivers themselves are a bit disappointed with the format.

I'm looking forward to Brands Hatch at the end of May, then the Goodwood FOS more than ever now. Brands is the Masters Festival, with 60s and 70s F1 and Le Mans cars, plus I think historic saloons. Heaven.
