F1 2010

Posted by: Tony Lockhart on 02 January 2010

Well, the off-season has been pretty good so far. New teams, a Senna, new rules and the return of a legend. Will the championship live upto expectations? Will Legard still be doing his best to ruin Brundle's commentary efforts?

Will Big Howard have a good word to say about F1? Will people still act surprised when a driver makes a dumb move? Will people still look back at F1 in the 50s/60s/70s/80s through rose tinted glasses?

I'm looking forward to it, and I'm still trying to work out a way to seeing the Spa GP from beside the circuit, not the sofa.

Those F2 crash videos are amazing especially the in-car footage. Reminds me of Barichello getting shunted by Schumacher Minor in Melbourne. We were sitting opposite the Ferrari garages and looking down the straight could see his Williams taking off for what seemed an age before he hit the catch fencing. Scary stuff.

More on Silverstone - attempted to book GP tickets yesterday and a fault appeared on their booking web site. I called in the fault and was told it would cost me an extra 2.50 to purchase the tickets by phone. All this when it was their site that had failed. Anyway I called back today when the business hours staff are on and was told they couldn't fix it immediately and would get back to me. When I mentioned that the booking site was pretty poor the response was that - I wasn't the first person to make that comment and thay they had just changed over to a new system ??? Anyway I'm still waiting for them to get back to me ...

This is a business/organization/whatever that has an extremley loyal (and in some cases affluent) fan base and yet they don't seem to have a clue how to communicate with them. Sheesh !!!

I seem to have heard that before, not about Silverstone though!

Prediction for another Boreraihn today, unless it rains.

I hope someone was watching Sam Bird in the GP2 races, then they will know there are 3 passing places on this rtrack.

Yep, I've been dreading this race too. It's the first proper test of the 2010 cars and rules. Still, I'll give it a chance.

What a snoozefest. Why does the FIA insist on regulations that make the races utterly boring? Rain should not be required to add interest to a race.

Wha'! sorry I must have dozed off.

That was a top qualifying session. Well done to all involved, and such a shame Alonso couldn't be there.

This Red Bull thing is getting boring. I suppose I'd be less bothered if I didn't dislike Red Bull and particularly, Mark Webber so much. As a general rule I root for all the drivers but there's something about Webber that puts me off. Same goes for Christian Horner.

That's what happens when you push the limits around Monaco.

Kubica has been the real star so far this weekend but i wouldn't be surprised to see him eaten up by the two Red Bulls come the first corner.

Then get ready for a long afternoon...

You either push the limits or never become world champion.
Posted on: 16 May 2010 by rackkit
Should have said, pushed beyond the limits.

Still, he got lucky last weekend.

Button out, Red Bull in charge so far.

Congrats to Webber and Vettel.

That's why Hamilton and Alonso are my favorite drivers. When they make mistakes, they err on the side of pushing a little to hard. Meanwhile I hope Karun is ok. It's amazing that he was able to walk and talk after getting hit in the head by an F1 car.

Still waiting to se whate the race stewards of which Damon Hill is one for this race, make of it.

They should let it stand IMO.

Rules apparently say it won't. Nevertheless, I think he has been driving quite well.He can take just the right line to make himself difficult to pass without juking back and forth as young Lewis did a couple of races ago. Also doing well with a car that is not among the best.

Hats off to Weber, Kubica, and Alonso for fast and smart drives. Massa also had a good day. Lewis is a heck of a driver but his cockpit exchanges with his crew cannot be endearing.

It seems to be a little more complicated.
In a german TV Interview he said that
a)the green lights flashed (normal race) and not the yellow ones.
b)he got the order from Ross Brawn to try to overtake Alonso.
Same said in another interview Rosberg.

Been working in the yard. Just checked ESPNF1 and he received a 20 second penalty. Apparently, he made the move in consultation with Brawn over the radio. Nice try! We have a very good broadcast team over here on the Speed Channel and they had him flagged pretty quick.

.....The Monaco GP always bugs me ....a track steeped in F1 history ...beautiful scenery ....a great atmosphere mebbes ...but almost always a borrrrrrring race...how many other people like myself watched the race this afternoon and thought "race over" when the 2 Red Bull's led into the first corner? ...and yep - we were right.
